Journey Demos?

Postby fightingilliniJRNY » Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:40 am

I've had the Infinity Demos for a while, but for some reason I'm just now really getting into them. Does anybody have any of Journey's other demos?

There are near completed rough mixes from the "Departure" album out there, a "With A Tear" w/vocals demo from ROR, and a bunch of Perry demos out there, one or two of which some believe to possibly be Journey ("Let it Rock You" comes to mind). Another one I personally believe is Journey from '77-'78 based on Perry's sound is "Get Your Face (Right Out of Here)". I can't think of any others off the top of my head, and I feel like I'm missing a couple.....
Rock on,
Eric

There's Fleischman's couple of demo's too of course, from his time in the band. Very different.

Track 12 – Homemade Love

Apparently, Natural Thing was a Departure reject. It got put on the B-side of an ESCAPE single, I believe. Great song. Seems around this era (80-86), even the rejects were great .... LaRazaDelSol .... Liberty (luv this song -- just too short). It's not just SP's vocals .... all the other guys were at their creative peak. All the songs were different ... not the cookie-cutter hooks/songs they put out post-SP. (imo)

I just looked at the Time3 booklet. It says Natural Thing was written by SP as an "ode to the girl in blue jeans for the Departure album." And that Neal thinks the song is the perfect example of the "cool r&b roots of Perry." It was put on the B-side to the DSB single a year later.

So, I guess this song was a precursor to the BJG reference in Stone in Love. Should make "our" BJG proud to be associated with yet another Journey song  .
