I don't know if you're either being contentious in an effort to start a flame war or if you some how are privy to the minds of every musician on the planet, but Vh1's recent special on the 100 Greatest Rock Songs showcased the likes of Sammy Hagar, Sebastian Bach, and others lauding Journey's success. So that line is, quite frankly, bullshit.

No, not starting some war. I deeply respect the classic years. They were great. I am speaking of the now, that's all. As for success, they don't currently enjoy any.

Platinum album, you picky bastard.

And honestly, I've heard that you have some deep issues with Jon and Neal, but that doesn't give you justification for dismissing their talents. Those comments on Vh1 weren't just about Perry or "the classic years." Musicians quite clearly respect Journey's skills for their instruments.

First off you fuck, all through the firing of Jeff, as wrong as that was, I never dismissed either's talents. I do think Friga is way overrated and can't write a "real song."

As for VH1 or whatever you are rambling on about, I elect not to watch anything Journey. Just doesn't do it for me.

They definitely could have handled that better.

I never dismissed either's talents.

Seems like you go out of your way to demean them both as people and musicians, but that's just the vibe I get.

I do think Friga is way overrated and can't write a "real song."

Can't factually argue that; taste in lyrics is subjective, though I personally find him to be the most accomplished of all of Journey's songwriters.

As for VH1 or whatever you are rambling on about,

I brought it up once. Hardly a ramble.

I elect not to watch anything Journey.

They do tend to crop up in a lot of your posts, though.

Just doesn't do it for me.

They don't have to. The contention was that Journey is "irrelevant" and "nobody respects them." Vh1's special says otherwise.

Re Bruce, at least he didn't do an exclusive on Working On A Dream.

I don't think he is but even if he's somewhat out of touch with the regular joe who wouldn't be after being MEGA rich for going on how many decades now?

He sure doesn't act like it though. He keeps working hard. Puts on great shows and how many mega rich superstars do you find doing this.

Dean, take off the rose colored glasses. Bruce coming out with this statement is like some stone cold sober dude admitting it was wrong to fuck another woman after his wife calls him on it. He knew what he was doing all along. Ride that gravy train.

Oh, and for the record, there's nothing wrong with him going exclusive with some two-bit compilation (or any other record for that matter). At this point, it's the best way to move your product if you're in the music industry.

For what it's worth (and probably not much), someone years ago that was close to the Springsteen camp made waves that his blue-collar image was far from genuine. If it was true, he wouldn't be the first to manufacture his image. J-Lo from the "block", Michael Moore, Al Gore, tons of "ganksta" rappers, too many to count.

When I see articles like this, sometimes the sincerity is a little suspect. Or maybe the expectations on an artist to uphold such an image to those extremes are too demanding. Maybe it's both.

Spot on... people aren't that stupid or naive when they've been in the business that long. Not taking away anything from The Boss as an artist or performer -- he's tops. It just gives me the same sense I get when Paris Hilton insists she's only been intimate with 2 guys.

Just wondering , if Bruce thinks its a mistake to do the WM deal, is he donating any proceeds he gets from it to a good cause or giving back the money?

When I was a teenager I was sorry every Thursday evening when I stole six packs of bubble gum , a pack of hostess cupcakes, a copy of circus magazine, and a two large purple slurpees from the neighborhood 7-11 whilst my girlfriend distracted the clerk by showing off her nice legs and sizeable bosom. In fact we were both very sorry, every damn week it happened. However, neither of us felt motivated to give the goods back, so how sorry we actually were is debateable.

The Boss is owning up to a mistake.

In an interview with Sunday's New York Times, Bruce Springsteen says he shouldn't have made a deal with Wal-Mart. This month, the store started exclusively selling a Springsteen greatest hits CD.

Some fans were critical because Springsteen has been a longtime supporter of worker's rights, and Wal-Mart has faced criticism for its labor practices.

Springsteen told the Times that his team didn't vet the issue as closely as he should have, and that he "dropped the ball on it."

Springsteen went on to say: "It was a mistake. Our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one. Fans will call you on that stuff, as it should be."

Springsteen released his new CD "Working on a Dream" this week and is performing the halftime show at the Super Bowl.

I wonder if Jonny Friga and Neal Schon agree or do they think Bruce is out of his fucking mind; and for that matter Angus, Henley, Fry and even BA. This new CD will undoubtedly be number 1 and sell a shitload of cd's.
What a bunch of bunk."didn't vet it enough"..hogwash! As politically outspoken as he is I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what Wallyworld is all about. He took the deal because he and his camp are business savvy and it's the best avenue to sell his product. Going with Wallyworld gets the most sells for these older bands.
Many celebrities preach one thing for their image and live another. Some act so charitable but they ask everyone else to give and they only seem to give up enough of their own for tax purposes....some who are really outspoken don't give any more then that when they could...they really don't give up much at all and use causes for image and publicity...to further their own cause..themselves.. There are a few that seem sincere and do more then that but many seem to do it only for themselves. This is not only true of celebrities, though. Business people, churchs, politicians, your next door neighbor. Basically what I'm saying is I find most people to be full of crap and few to be genuine between what they say and their actions to the contrary.

You bought that piece of shit? It's hardly a gretest hits record. The songs on there are not even close to his best. One with enough brains can easily see he slapped it together and shipped em some songs..looks like he was fulfilling a contractual release.
