Couldn't find a youtube link for it but I have always thought Out of Bounds by Amanda Marshall had a very haunting melody.

here's another:

If I Can Take You--Ramos/Hugo

http://www.melodicrock.com/showcase/ram ... dream.html

the last track. wait til the end-it turns into an instrumental. Hugo sets ya up at the beginning and then Eric and Josh scoop you up and take off.

I was listening to this for the first time in California. NAMM was over and I was trying to drive to the airport to return the rent car. I missed my turn THREE TIMES--I was so lost in that tune. It is a fairly long track so you might have to listen all the way to the end, which means you must purchase cuz the link is just a clip.

Rhi, I never got into Amos. Only remember the one radio tune from the 90's. Do you like most of her songs or just a few?

Just that one actually. They're both from the Great Expectations soundtrack and I borrowed the cassette off a friend on the way back from Tennessee on a church youth think in '98 and listened to those two songs over and over. For some reason they've stuck with me and I love them. Something about it almost bone chilling to me.

The Moody's are great for ethereal sounds aren't they? Here's a couple more I remembered:

I like the tv show this went with. Stranded with Cash Peters.

One of my favorite female vocalists, she's got one hell of a voice! I always thought Beautiful Goodbye was kind of haunting too.......might just be her voice though, she puts so much emotion into her singing.

One of my favorite songs of hers, that gal can sing circles around most. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=8rvT5No1Fz4

SusieP, I hope you're enjoying your cd. :)

I always have great memories tied to Moody Blues from 1981 / 1982.

Just got my first car, these guys were always on the radio. REO, Escape album, Rainbow. Especially Wildest Dreams from the Moody's.

Great selections. I LOVE December Snow. I love the Al Stewart references here too. Definitely outside the box 'round these parts.

A few of mine:

Dream Theater - Disappear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeCbviDHotM

The Guess Who - Sour Suite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDZSJeRbVc8

CSN - Guinnevere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsmC1zrpwfQ

Opeth - Hope Leaves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KjOhoH0dY4

Sting - Shape of My Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX4jAplZb0Y

Progressive rock like DT, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Rush etc. are full of songs with haunting melodies...

My sister was a DJ at the high school radio station so she would borrow LPs from time to time. She brought home "Long Distance Voyager" and I was hooked.
