There was a bit of an accent and eye~roll, never noticed that before.....

I know... his eyes rolled back into his head whenever he hit a high note. It looked like he was passing out or having a seizure of some kind.

I'm going to have to go back and watch it again as Arnel's performance threw me off listening to the rest of the band. Disappointing. I hope it's just a temporary glitch.

You're saying he was lipping. Here we go. Tapegate 2009.

LOL!

No, it was obvious that this was live. He was struggling, and had no backing tracks to rely on at all. It sounded weak at best.

I have to admit that it bothers me that Steve Perry is not singing this song at the Superbowl. I am glad that Arnel is there to carry on the Perry legacy, but it would be so much more entertaining for me if Perry was singing the song that he made famous at such a big event. Oh well. Once a Perry loon....

DSB is the #1 downloaded song on Itunes... due to Steve Perry's vocals. Oh well. I'm sure that Elvis fans feel the same way when they go to Vegas and see an Elvis tibute band.

Probably not... at least not without some serious vocal rehabilitation. If he worked on it, he could probably sing it a step down and it would sound decent. Arnel could even help with the backups. But I'm sure Perry would never do it. If he would have been willing to do it, the probably would have welcomed him.

True.

And Perry wouldn't even want to be there, no matter how much you want him there. He would rather be doing a Steve Perry solo tour - if he did any performance at all, which is iffy.

I would love to see Steve team up with Randy Jackson and do a solo album/tour. Randy has the bucks and the connections to get a lot of talented musicians for a new allbum and tour. According to some sources, something like this is in the making. I'll believe it when I hear/see it.

look after todays performance, Perry might be thinking, fuck it they need me, find me a god damn phone booth and get my Super Perry suit out, Im flying at 8. Certainly, Gotham city might be just lighting a giant scarab spotlight in the sky to summon him.

Arnel sounded just OK...He sounded better today on that song than Augeri ever did. The diction issue was more noticeable, though.
