Hey, they are followers. Nothing wrong with that. The biggest problem I have with the Pinoy army, is their complete lack of respect for the Classic era and Steve Perry. Most of them have no clue at all what transpired then. A shame really.

Pineda hasn't experienced 1% of what Augeri had to endure.

And he probably never will for 2 reasons:

1) He's a far better singer
2) He sings live.

I would stack any Augeri performance before his vocal problems against the crap I just heard on TV.

And I'd stack up anything in the entire audio spectrum (nails on chalk board, the sounds diarrhea, vomiting, sex, Jonathan Cain singing "Faithfully") against Perry's version of "Only the Young" on FtLoSM tour.

That performance was alright. Lots of energy and showmanship on display in the bootleg video. Interesting song to use as a warm up though.

You're kidding, right? No amount of showmanship or charisma (which Perry had and will always have, of course) can save that song from being anything but shitty. The fact that it is the great Steve Perry doesn't change it. It only makes it harder for me to deal with.

I honestly think he sounds good on it. Sure, it's a different take but he changed up a lot of songs on that tour. I like it. It has charm.

I can handle that and agree to disagree.

One thing that I'll give you is that you're not like some others who will rant and rave and cry and piss and moan that Perry is some sort of infallible vocal god that -- on his worst day -- is better than the likes of JSS, SA, and Arnel.

Great point, and I felt like I had to do the disclaimer as to not come off as a total hating Journey person. I could care less if the Pinoy army rises up against me- I could give two shits what they think. In fact, now that I have laid out my second disclaimer, and I honestly do think he is a helluva singer, that performance sucked.

I think the strength of the Pinoy army has been exaggerated. While I have already seen several posts in the past 10 minutes warning about the Pineda fans jumping in to defend him passionately , I actually have yet to see one.

The only reason I add that disclaimer is because its true. I really liked what he did with Revelation and loved him on the European tour. Unfortunately todays performance blew goats, ( actually blew a herd of goats), and Im happy to say so, just dont want to lose sight of the fact hes been a pretty good guy for the band on the balance of things.

I think he did fine accent wise and the performance was fine but vocally it was rough and it sounded like it was lowered so I don't understand why anyone else couldn't sing it lowered ..Augeri, JSS....even Perry....maybe damage is already being done to Arnel so the rest of the band are finally letting go of trying to recreate the exact same sound that they had with Perry years ago and giving some consideration to their singer so he can try to last longer...and not have to resort to taped vocals again.....it's about time the realization comes to them that Perry was unique in what he did and it can never be recreated exactly or even close for any length of time with anyone else...so they just have to do it a bit different to keep playing the songs live.
