I actually feel bad for Arnel. I can only imagine what's going through Friga & Fro's minds right now. It could conceivably be deja vu all over again...

Arnel doesn't know Kevin Cronin by chance, does he??? :?

I can answer that. The performance of "Stone In Love" in Chile was one of the worst performances of that song by ANYONE I've ever heard perform it. It was a complete DISASTER!

I was being sarcastic about my question...i was on Viña del Mar show..and yeah arnel was nervious, and stone in love wasn't good but i enjoy the whole show no matter what..it was after all Journey in Chile, could not believe it!

ps. The Viña del mar festival wasn't the only show that Journey make with arnel here, and he give a great performance after his debut in tv

Personally, I"ve been very disappointed about his priorities but then I'm a Journey fan. Arnel has been fantastic with Journey live so this is very disappointing. The excuse that he had a cold just doesn't work especially since his priorities were on his solo gigs. Yeah, I know it was for charity, but the best way to get funds for charities is to keep a high profile and sound great with a great band and gain a larger fanbase.

The charity gigs were set b/f the gig with the Super Bowl happened. After they got the Super Bowl gig, he cancelled one concert b/f the show, but couldn't cancel them all. If he had known about the Super Bowl, I don't believe he would have set it up that way. He probably would have done them all after.

I just watched it on Youtube.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad. Certainly nowhere near as bad as that Augeri morning show appearance that's come up here a few times. No way they'd can Arnel just because of this.

You can't "prepare" for this...it's one song, a song they'd played a million times. Just wasn't his best day.

As for him moving...given Journey's history with singers, would you move your family halfway around the world just because Neal told you to?

All in all a great day for this site. Tons of people out of the woodwork posting, other sites talking about MR again (they hate us but they love to come here and read our drivel anyway  Yes plokkers, I'm talking about you). Too bad Arnel had to blow his wad doing shows with Lani instead of resting up for a killer performance at this rare chance for national exposure, but you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Watch him knock the song out of the ballpark on his next show, a day late and a dollar short as the saying goes. We probably won't see it as I don't think there will be many clips from the Japanese shows being put up on youtube, but maybe the Manila one. I'm just going to wait for a new album. It looks like Revelation has run its course. Hopefully by chrismas we'll have some new songs to check out.

People tend to forget that even though Arnel is in a band, getting family visas for a guy who is on a work visa isn't an easy thing. Journey has some pull but I would think it will take some time, maybe a few months at the earliest. Seeing how he just got his new house, what is he going to do bringing them here, not even talking about the money but he can't expect the band to pickup the bill for their expenses also. I hate to see him in this position but if it's a short US tour this time, best to leave them at home.

Who knows, maybe it's just for a month in the summer. He's never really specified how long. The daughters have school.

I thought they're going to Europe. Heart and the other acts from last Summer are already starting back up, I wonder why Journey hasn't released any forcast of their next tour, (sorry but four shows in Asia isn't really much of a tour).

He got good reviews from our partygoers, but the eyes did "freak a few people out!" I was going to post the same thing.

I'm not sure why anyone should feel sorry for Arnel at this point. He has had plenty of time to get his act together. He is the one going out and doing karaoke show after karaoke show. No one is forcing him to not put his full attention towards the needs of the bands. At some point the guy has to step up and be accountable for his performances, and his fans have to be willing expect more, and quit using the whole 'ohh, poor Arnel, he's going through so much' routine. He's either a professional and can handle it, or he's not.

Precisely! The old bad cold story just doesn't fly. He should have been rested & prepared. Period.

Btw, I'm not knockin the solo stuff. I think it's great and Augeri should have done it too. It's only good PR for the band. The problem with it though, is that a singer without the band, or at least a similar band, will sink back into old habits and annunciations. Keeping your voice in shape isn't the problem, it's keeping it conditioned and tailored specifically for the band that becomes the problem.

Doing all the charity events & karaoke gigs is fine. But having the discipline to keep your vocal habits in tune with your band is another thing altogether. And I think that was part of the problem last night.

A few years ago I would have been all over that pregame show, excited to see the band get exposure.

Now I just don't care.

I don't listen to Revelations anymore, and I have no plans to see them live.

It's not just on Arnel though. I didn't want to see these guys in concert as far back as 2004. They just play the same shit over and over again and never branch out to anything different.

If they want to be a cover band, just come out and say it already. Stop insulting the intelligence of the people who spend hard earned money to see you.

But remember every time his live performances that weren't so great were on Youtube, several people tore him and his ability to "hit the notes" apart. We all defended him too. This situation seems the same to me.
