I can answer that. The performance of "Stone In Love" in Chile was one of the worst performances of that song by ANYONE I've ever heard perform it. It was a complete DISASTER!

I was being sarcastic about my question...i was on Viña del Mar show..and yeah arnel was nervious, and stone in love wasn't good but i enjoy the whole show no matter what..it was after all Journey in Chile, could not believe it!

ps. The Viña del mar festival wasn't the only show that Journey make with arnel here, and he give a great performance after his debut in tv

I think Arnel just needs to figure out whether he wants to be a big fish in a small pond (PI and other Filipino fans) or a medium size fish with the Journey fanbase. Personally, I"ve been very disappointed about his priorities but then I'm a Journey fan. Arnel has been fantastic with Journey live so this is very disappointing. The excuse that he had a cold just doesn't work especially since his priorities were on his solo gigs. Yeah, I know it was for charity, but the best way to get funds for charities is to keep a high profile and sound great with a great band and gain a larger fanbase.

The charity gigs were set b/f the gig with the Super Bowl happened. After they got the Super Bowl gig, he cancelled one concert b/f the show, but couldn't cancel them all. If he had known about the Super Bowl, I don't believe he would have set it up that way. He probably would have done them all after.

All in all a great day for this site. Tons of people out of the woodwork posting, other sites talking about MR again (they hate us but they love to come here and read our drivel anyway Yes plokkers, I'm talking about you). Too bad Arnel had to blow his wad doing shows with Lani instead of resting up for a killer performance at this rare chance for national exposure, but you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Watch him knock the song out of the ballpark on his next show, a day late and a dollar short as the saying goes. We probably won't see it as I don't think there will be many clips from the Japanese shows being put up on youtube, but maybe the Manila one. I'm just going to wait for a new album. It looks like Revelation has run its course. Hopefully by chrismas we'll have some new songs to check out.

The performance itself was not very good. I getting really freaked out with what Arnel was doing with eyes. It almost looked like he was possessed by something when he would roll his eyes back into his head. There are definetly some things he needs to work on as a performer.

He got good reviews from our partygoers, but the eyes did "freak a few people out!" I was going to post the same thing.

I'm not sure why anyone should feel sorry for Arnel at this point. He has had plenty of time to get his act together. He is the one going out and doing karaoke show after karaoke show. No one is forcing him to not put his full attention towards the needs of the bands. At some point the guy has to step up and be accountable for his performances, and his fans have to be willing expect more, and quit using the whole 'ohh, poor Arnel, he's going through so much' routine. He's either a professional and can handle it, or he's not.

Precisely! The old bad cold story just doesn't fly. He should have been rested & prepared. Period.

Btw, I'm not knockin the solo stuff. I think it's great and Augeri should have done it too. It's only good PR for the band. The problem with it though, is that a singer without the band, or at least a similar band, will sink back into old habits and annunciations. Keeping your voice in shape isn't the problem, it's keeping it conditioned and tailored specifically for the band that becomes the problem.

Doing all the charity events & karaoke gigs is fine. But having the discipline to keep your vocal habits in tune with your band is another thing altogether. And I think that was part of the problem last night.
