Overall performance, absolutely. Arnel wasn't on his A-game and DSB blows. But Weinberg is no Castronovo, and Springsteen is neither Neal nor Arnel. His showmanship and versatility is impressive; but he's not as skilled as a guitarist or singer.

But he is so much better a performer and artist than Both of those guys put together. Neal can't write like Bruce, and Arnel can't perform half as good. Journey simply is without Perry, a B band.

Meh. I can appreciate his talents, but I've never been a Springsteen fan, personally. I recognize that he is an American icon and cultural institution. But Arnel's boyish charm and stage antics appeal to me because he's like a toddler in the veritable fucking candy store. I think he truly appreciates what he has been given (though I think he could show it a little more by not doing the fucking solo tour). Likewise, there is something just exquisitely badass about the stage presence of Neal Schon -- he doesn't need to go Angus Young-apeshit all over the stage. He's got the rock star swagger, smirk, and bling. Loved his little pick toss to the camera.

That said, I love how Schon and Springsteen even dress the fuck alike lol.

Edit: Like I said, we'll agree to disagree. But talent and its application also factor in. Castronovo kicks the utter dogshit out of Weinberg (by miles and miles) and Springsteen isn't a fourth of the guitarist or singer that Neal and Arnel are (respectively).

The single day Journey writes a song as good as a Bruce song, then I will stop posting.

Journey compared to Bruce and E Street suck.

We'll agree to disagree.

Though I'm confused as to how they "suck" when you readily admit he isn't as good of a singer or guitarist. Clearly, in some aspects, they're better than he is. Unless you meant to add the "...in terms of songwriting" as a qualifier.

Wasn't there a bet over Springsteen's setlist? He didn't play 'Born in the USA' so someone has to change their avatar if I remember correctly!

I said He wouldn't. That whore BJG said he would. She lost.

There was action taken in Vegas for the setlist and it got so heated that the server crashed. If anyone had the setlist, it paid 25-1. I had 3 of the 4..I didn't ever think they would do 10th Avenue Freeze Out.

Went into work for a few hours tonight so I didn't catch the entire performance, but I got a glimpse of Glory Days (my favorite Springsteen song EVER and the theme song for my senior year of high school!) and although it seemed slowed down a bit, I thought it was incredible! Listening to that song always makes me happy.

The first thing I thought about Bruce's appearance though, was 'hey, he kinda looks like Neal'. Great to see I wasn't the only one. :)

So if Arnel runs around and slides all over the place acting like a goof, that would negate a shit vocal as heard on Born to Run tonight? I know Bruce's music isn't about the singing, but that was bad. So were Stevie's harmonies.

Wish they woulda done Radio Nowhere...

You cannot be serious. Journey is all about the vocal, of which Pineda lat out sucked on. Bruce is about stardom, writing, emotion and conveying that to the crowd. The two simply are not in the same hemisphere. Arnel, if he was smart, and the rest of the band, should have gone inside and watched the show. AP could have learned a thing or two.

Stardom? What the fuck is stardom? Look, I don't expect Bruce to come out there and hit ball-frying highs, but he sang Born to Run like shit. That detracted from the performance for ME. If he's singing perfectly and wants to do all that other shit, great. Otherwise I'd rather see him stand there, sing well, and just look like he's enjoying it. Born to Run suckedddddd.

It sounded like Bruce's guitar was a bit flat at the beginning of Born To Run...Also sounded like his guitar got dropped way down in the mix when he started singing...

Probably happened when he threw it to his tech at the beginning of the show, and the tech almost tripped and fell... :)

I'd be offended by "whore" if you also hadn't just called Andrew a cocksucking marsupial.

For the record, I was not overwhelmed by Bruce's performance. It didn't suck, but... I expected better.

I agree. Not being a huge Bruce fan, I thought his performance was OUTSTANDING.What a performer!!I thought Bruce, sounded like Bruce on BTR.
I think unfortunately that Journey was TOTALLY outclassed by Bruce. And that is coming from a guy that doesn't own a single Springsteen record, but I have the entire Journey catalog and then some.

I agree. He certainly blew Journey out of the water.
Ever hope to see Journey doing the halftime gig? Get Perry back.
Otherwise... continued "meh" performances. Those online reviews were pretty brutal.

The boss & co. put on an entertaining show. However, using words like "incredible" and "outstanding" are bit much in my opinion.
Hey, if you're a big fan than I am sure you thought it was great, if not, you probably found it just entertaining as I did.

Local radio guys this morning were calling AP a 'mutant ninja turtle'. As mean as that may seem, their comments were making a little sense. Last night, Journey was clearly the b-team.

Springsteen & the E-Street Band ruled. One of the best halftime shows ever.

On the pop song scale, I'd take Escape over Born In The USA or his early 90's 'poppier' stuff. The rest of the time, I'd mostly agree with you, although I could argue it's a bit of an unfair comparison since they have somewhat different musical aspirations.

Looks like Neal.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
