I responded with a question. It's basically to see whether or not you're a Perry apologist or if you truly believe that the two performances aren't comparable. Who do you think gave the better vocal: Perry at the White Sox or Pineda at the Superbowl?

That's a retarded comparison. Not even worth discussing

I get that a lot. Props to Blueskies for providing something approaching reasons why. Is it in this board's nature to constantly provide lame excuses for celebrities they like?

Hell, I don't even appreciate Arnel's "cold" or "tour dates" being used as excuses for his (relatively) sub-par performance.

Has anyone on here ever heard Perry out of breath when he is singing like Arnel always seems to be? Or am I just hearing things?

This was the original contention by Madsplash, second page:

We know who's band it really was in it's prime and we sure as hell would've never heard that vocal performance on world-wide television.

To which I provided the link of Perry at the White Sox. Keep in mind: I reiterated that I'm sure Perry could have done better (just like Pineda could have done better at the Superbowl), but the claim was that we would "have never heard that vocal performance on world-wide television."

That isn't the case.

You get it a lot cause it's true. I don't give a fuck about Perry, I've never even seen him live. I listen to Journey for Neal more than anything and I've only seen Augeri and JSS. I'll go see them with Arnel if they come back around here this summer too. A lame excuse suffices here since you started a lame conversation.

Well, if you say so.

I don't give a fuck about Perry,

I don't give a fuck about current Perry. But back in Journey's golden age? The man was nigh-untouchable.

I've never even seen him live.

We never will.

I listen to Journey for Neal more than anything and I've only seen Augeri and JSS.

Caught SA on the 30th Anniversary Tour, JSS with Leppard, and Arnel in August '08.

I'll go see them with Arnel if they come back around here this summer too.

He's great.

I started neither the thread nor the conversation. Blame Madsplash.

In debates, you start with a contention. Madsplash made hers without qualifiers or a certain set of standards. I proved her contention wrong. Technically, you and I were never debating a point between us; you were defending Madsplash's demonstrably false contention.

Now, if you want to say, well "Perry would have never embarrassed us on a scheduled, organized performance" then I'd probably agree and make some snide remark that he'd never do one at all.

I wish they'd scuttle the dirty dozen and promote more of their post-Perry shit. I'd like to kick Cain, Schon, and Perry in the nuts collectively for writing DSB. Shit song.

Minus the hot blonde and decent music video. So, in a way, I guess it's unfair to Warrant to make such a comparison.

I only seen DSB so if there was more I missed it. I think the band sounded tight but Arnel was not on his game. He's back his vibrato every note deal. He was in the groove and DAMN good when I seen him front row at Indy. I'll give this performance a C. Too bad the bassturd was on national TV ...

Out of curiousity I checked out the AP Forum. I admire them for being loyal fans, but 2 topics and 5 minutes later, I just had to leave,,,, the comments some of these people make their is plain stupid, not to mention a total embarassment for being the official site of the singer of Journey. Some samples:

I watched the SB this morning in Beijing and they televised Journey during the half-time break. Lucky to catch it. The broadcast renewed my interest in Journey, lost it in '97. Gave up on them until now. First time to hear AP. The bro got skills! Smart choice for the lead singer. I wish all of Journey the strength to continue on.

Star of the half time show fumbled and stumbled on stage. I don't think he was very serious about it or age and his routine are not in balance

this is how i watched it in HD and with head phone on to eliminate unwanted noise Arnel sounded great the JBOYS are awesome............Arnel look so handsome on BIG SCREEN.........LOVE AP/JBOYS YOU GUYS ROCK...!!!!!!!!!!!!

HD or not, Arnel still sounded great and their performance is awesome! In fact, they should have been the "Superbowl Half-time Show". Bruce S. performance is not like when he was in his younger days. For someone who speaks English, it's hard to understand what he was saying. He tried to "jump & run around" but not as good as AP does maybe b'cuz he's older, 'bigger', and slower now. This year, the "Pre-game show", next year, Journey will be the "Superbowl Half-time show!!!
Those who have negative remarks are people who are looking for flaws 'coz they still can't accept AP as the New Frontman of Journey.
Wake up people! ARNEL PINEDA is now the "New Frontman of Journey", whether you like it or not!
AP is the NEW PRINCE OF ROCK & ROLL!

Now this is what everyone should be talking about! ....will somebody please post this at MR for those lunatics out there. Thanks, Admin!

Thanks for posting this much much better video. I love Arnel's performance. No matter what the negative people says especially those people at mr,
arnel still rise to the top. I'm sick of those people saying bad things about AP. I know their just jelous because thier beloved SP didn't even make it to the Superbowl.

You are GOOD! You can twist the argument in many ways to suit your needs...I say that I didn't take up Madsplashes contention but simply made my own with plenty of qualifiers. 8) ...but you are impressive in your skills and you don't resort to personal attacks and bring the debate to a street level brawl to shift focus nor did try to make me out to be a person who I am not... which is like a breath of fresh air after all this time....so thank you for actually keeping to debate. I don't know what your profession is but you would make a fine lawyer....are you sure your not James Spader?  8)

I wish.

BS, seriously, it's been fun sparring with you. I like how you actually argue the point and you're not afraid to make some friendly jabs.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

I responded with a question. It's basically to see whether or not you're a Perry apologist or if you truly believe that the two performances aren't comparable. Who do you think gave the better vocal: Perry at the White Sox or Pineda at the Superbowl?
I explained that in my post that you ...uh hum.."missed".... because I owned you in it. Come on..it's alright to admit defeat..it will make you a better man to be a good sport about it.  8)

Gunbot nailed me with the White Sox not being the beginning for the resurgence of DSB, and I promptly retracted my statement.

So, I'll admit defeat when I'm wrong.
good man. 8) Now where is that proper comparison video so we can debate that.  :)

You have GOT TO BE shitting me?

What a bunch of idiots and assholes.

No more Mr Nice guy to the Pinoy's. Fuck them. They are just so blind, deaf and retarded.

"Jealous because their guy Steve Perry never played a Super Bowl?" Journey played the Beer Garden, not the fucking Super Bowl. The day Arnel can play stadiums is the day he can run smack on Perry. Perry played the Super Bowl many times in a music metaphor.

And those dimwits and their ridiculous Halftime critique. Pineda would have been booed off the fucking stage had he sounded like he did. I am heading over the now. Time to educate these stupid fucks.

Journey play the Super Bowl...LOL I can't stop laughing.
