God, this was sad... What happened between them? Life is too freaking short to stay mad...

Ry Cooder played a Hawaiian instrument (I think that's what he said it was) that was just beautiful and haunting on this song from the "Long Black Veil" with the Chieftans:

Brothers In Arms is a great track for this thread Tammy. I forgot about that one. Mark Knopfler and DS have so many great cuts.

This one rocks along but the outro from 5:20 to the end has a great haunting feeling.

Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love

This one's more about the lyrics than the sounds.

Here's one of my fave movie soundtracks from the movie, "Ladyhawke" Alan Parsons Project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bugi35v1CKk

The beginning of this song is haunting then it kicks into high gear. Funny, how this now reminds me of Journey music! At the time I first saw this movie/heard the music in the 80s I had actually forgotten about Journey until 2004...so, listening to all their music that I had missed out on since '81 I was struck by the similarity. Can anyone else hear it? Doesn't it sound a bit like "Separate Ways" when the keys come in? It also reminds me of the "Dream after Dream" album.

Here's one that I fell in love with when I first heard it a few yrs ago. "Autumn Song" by Andre Andersen (of Royal Hunt fame): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwGFXi-vABY But, maybe, it's more melancholy than haunting.

Interesting lyrics, sounds more like a "love gone wrong" song.

"For You I'd Die"

You said I'm yours to keep
With your voice so deep
You were just talking in your sleep

I'll do what you'll crave
My life for you I'll waive
All I get is a spot next to your grave

[Pre-Chorus :]
And you're a fool to not see
I'm not hanging here to keep you company

[Chorus :]
But what am I supposed to do
When all hope is gone?
How am I supposed to leave you
When you're the only one?
I made a deal with Mr.hades
My soul he wants to buy
For you I'd die

Oh this is the end
My only friend the end
are words from our favorite band
I know we're not astray
My love won't decay
Are thing that you'll never say

[Pre-Chorus 2 :]
It is strange how time flies
It's been a year that's gone by
And you don't know the color of my eyes

For you I'd Die

Good call on these tunes. Haven't heard SB23 in a long time. I think maybe the last time I saw Jackie Brown.

When I was offline I thought "that lady that sang backup on Peter Grabriel's "SO" album has a great song" but I'd promptly forget it when I'd get on MR.

A little more Bush here, cool vid. Lucky outlaw pete, I'd love to hug her for 6 minutes.
