No doubt, but don't you think the burden of providing the broadcast crew with proper information rests on the shoulders of Journey's PR crew? Who the hell do they have doing their PR anyway? It's simple... type up a little copy with a brief 3-4 sentence statement about the band, members, pick up the latest album, look for them on the road this summer. Completely inexcusable and 100% fault of the Journey camp that Keith didn't have his facts straight.

Regarding some Arnel fans posting over-the-top comments dissing Steve, I've absolutely seen those comments on fan sites for some reason feeling the need to elevate Arnel by putting down Steve Perry , and it irritates me to no end, but by the same token, I've read some viscious, unfair, and nonfactual comments about Arnel on this site. Just saying . . . . . .

The thing is, on this site, you can challenge those viscious, unfair and nonfactual comments about Arnel with people on both sides of the argument getting in the discussion and have a healthy debate without people crying that you're being disrespectful and and hurting their feelings.

That is just factually wrong. I have seen people here (neither an Arnel fan or a PInoy) getting torn in to pieces. Don't tell me those are healthy debates and don't tell me that these people didn't get hurt. I am not really seeing what the fuss is all about. People here debate all the time and on some times, these discussions get out of hand. These happens whether we are discussing Perry, Arnel, or somebody else's harem. You are playing the nationality card again, and looking for sympathy. The fact is that discussions actually happen here, not just 100% adulation and praise. Yes, some adult language is used here but check yourself, it's rock n roll, not church. Pineda, as good as he is, gets a free pass. I backed him 100% when he was first named, and fought the people who made racist remarks against him. I supported him although I hate the fucking band(all of them). However, his fanbase has gone off the deep end. They are worse than Augeri's blind deaf and dumb minions were. This place is not comforting to many AP Onlies because the negative is raised here, and they can't stomach the ketchup stain on the front left breast. They want that perfect whitey tidy T shirt that is wholesome and bleached.

Pineda doesn't deserve the flack from his retarded fans, but he still does deserve to feel the heat, due to his downright neglect and lack of respect for not only his job, but his unprepared and non serious approach to rock n roll. My point when I said the one I highlighted above was that discussions here get out of hand regardless of whoever is involved, I don't really see that as playing the nationality card, The over all point of my post is that discussions, healthy debates, occasional hurt feelings are just part of the daily happenings here at MR, I don't see my post as playing the sympathy game.

There is a fan base for every Journey singer in ths place and yes, theyre all loyal and try to defend their "hero". Nothing wrong with it if youre defending your hero against unnecessary slams.

I'm not saying he isn't... my meaning was, some people seem like they want to shelter him from anything other than "he's the greatest" posts... but all that does is delude someone. I'm sure after everything he's fully capable of being resilient against some posts that he dropped the ball on Sunday. As did the rest of Journey, as did Journey's PR, as did Azoff's people, fuck, even Azoff himself dropped the ball here. So you HAVE to say great things about AP, even if he fucks up!?

Because the world is made of marshmallows, and offering a vast spectrum of opinion other than, "Yay! He's perfect! OMG!" is of course wrong and might hurt his feelings and make him cry? I don't get it... that's a part of being in the public spotlight. SCRUTINY. He's a big boy, he can handle it.

And if he can't, oh well... can't take the heat... bye bye kitchen.

I think he's handling it well. It's some of his fans that couldn't.

And that's a shame because no one trolls his official site, which would be easy enough to do even though you would bet booted twice as quick.
It seems that his pinoy fans especially, who even offer up any smallest critique have to word it in such an apologetic way as not to get jumped on. It's their kingdom but if you are going to dog MR, then expect a backlash.

It doesn't really matter what fans say on a fan site. To me it matters how the performances are. I have no doubt that Arnel was not happy with his performance and regrets the amount of preparation that was lacking for it and not taking care of himself physically and will learn from it. I state again it was a good performance, not an awful one but definitely not an amazing performance that he's perfectly capable of and that would have wowed millions of fans that didn't know him or know that Journey was even still around. B/c certain of Arnel's fans don't like to hear that or couldn't handle criticism and diss Steve Perry, that's on them. That's not Arnel. And certain posters on here didn't make constructive criticisms re Arnel's performance. It was also over the top and mean-spirited. Sure, we can debate it here, but the lurkers read it and don't like it, just like you lurking on other sites you don't like what they say. And the Journey saga goes on and on and on and on . . . . . . .

As for people having to word things in a more polite manner, I guess it's the culture dude. You've been to the PI, you know how it is. Arnel's website is predominantly Pinoy so they do it the Pinoy way there.

I was going to say well written/said, BUT, Jana, you make it seem like Pineda is a rookie, a 19 yr old who has no experience. Every singer worth his salts knows how crucial preparing properly is to a good sounding show. Pineda is 40 years old. He has to be smart enough to say to himself, fuck that fundraiser, this is the SUPER BOWL! You cannot make a mistake on this level. How can you hardcore fans expect the band to rejoin greatness if they can't leap the smallest of hurdles. This had to be right, had to be done correctly, NO mistakes. He committed the worst sin a singer could do. Perry would NEVER have done a gig the night before regardless of locale and I can say for certain JSS wouldn't even think about it. Hell, now I think about this, they should have used a fucking tape for this one song. Everyone and their uncle knew it was going to be DSB. Had I been Elson, I would have thrown a recorded DSB in there and said the hell with this live crap. If Pineda can't be responsible enough to take this serious, and the Super Bowl is fucking as serious as it gets, then shame on him.

The thing is, the Superbowl doesn't mean much to a Pinoy. While America stops whatever it is doing on Superbowl, life goes on the Philippine side of the world.
