"The surgery is considered less invasive and could pave the way for an increase in organ donations."

"Doctors then insert a hollow tube through the vagina with a bag at the end" are they sure this is an actual medical procedure, or are they just... :?

Sounds like a good way to avoid scarring and incisions. I guess you never know where they can pull an organ out from...

A kidney, if I remember right from nursing school, is only about 5 inches long...just sayin'

And I've never heard of a kidney having a larger circumference than a baby's head.

Maybe so, but you don't have to knock down drywall inside there and create extra passages to get a baby to reach the vagina. I equate this to trying to get your refrigerator into the the half-bath via the pantry.

There must have been something wrong with her belly button, cause the new way to remove kidneys is through the belly button hole. I worked at a university for years and they developed a way to go in through the belly button hole, put a bag around the organ to be removed, suck the bag with a machine that made it squeeze the kidney like when they vacuum pack a piece of meat, then they cut the blood vessels and arteries and pull out the kidney through the belly button hole. When they vacuum squeeze the kidney, it gets about 85% smaller in size compared to when it's just sitting inside a person. Great results, the patients in most cases usually leave the hospital within hours of the procedure. Because the old way to remove kidneys required cutting through a bunch of skin and muscle to get to the organ and the majority of the damage was done just getting to the kidney and that damage is what had the person recovering from in the hospital the most.
