Bruce nailed it. Despite ending with two of his lamer songs, what really mattered was the energy and spirit onstage. That gig is about the show and the energy, not about everything sounding 100% perfect or having some kind of musical revelation, and Bruce was the perfect pick.

Best halftime performance ever was U2. I was NEVER so moved by a ROCK band on live TV. It had a lot to do with 9/11, but they totally killed that day. I have yet to see a performance on a Superbowl to top it. Next was McCartney, cuz I like him, then Prince. Aerosmith sucked.

Regarding Bruce- I thought it was like watching Taylor Hicks. Too old and couldn't understand a word. Sounded like The Blues Brothers only not as funny. I don't get Bruce. Never have. I do like "Born to Run" which sounded pretty bad to me-vocally. Thank God he didn't play "Born in the USA". Terrible song. Same with "Glory Days" which he did play. Blech. Little Steven is just the dorkiest dude... ugh.

Also, the "fake fan rushes" at the Superbowl are so friggin' cheezy. These kids are so young they have no idea who the F Bruce even is.

THIS was a superbowl show:

Those saying that Arnel blew compared to Bruce- um, yeah, like Bruce's songs even come close to the difficulty of Journey tunes.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Since U2 is my favorite band I would love them anyway even on an off night, but they truly rocked that show.

I agree U2's halftime show was amazing....I'd say it's a tie between them and Bruce as to who's been the best.

Just watched the half time performance in HD (thank you internets). It was certainly fun but with all that running around at the start left Bruce sounding so winded that I had trouble understanding him at times and what was with the gurning, he looked like Robert De Niro! Still, he looked great and the show was fun and the band sounded phenomenal so what was with what sounded like booing at the end? It might have been people chanting 'Bruce' but it really sounded like booing and then it suddenly stopped and the audience noise was thinner and about half as loud. Weird.

And what happened to Steven Van Zandt! Not so Little anymore!

Blew Journey away though.

Man, times have changed. An Irish band speaking for the world in support of America. U2 stepped up and hit a grandslam that night.
