That really happened?

I was kidding and being sarcastic as well. I don't agree with putting the blame solely on Pineda. I think Journey's management are partly to blame.
Arnel wouldn't do anything without Journey's approval...yes even the gig a night before. In my book, if you agree to something and it goes tits up, then you're partly to blame. Also, scheduling the practice with only a few days before the gig isn't Pineda's call. As a matter of fact, I don't think Pineda has any say at all as to when they will practice. Journey are doing this for more than 30 years, they should know better. Arnel on the other hand is very new to all these so I think people should cut him some slack.
Hold the fuck up.
Given the weather and his documented difficulties with it, and the ease with which he catches some bug,
He shouldn't have been expending his energy reserve, or getting so physically close to fans before
a real Journey gig. Given the jet lag and acclimatization issues, he should have left a lot of time open
prior to the SB, and if that meant nixing any other peformances, then he should have never even
considered it.
Even IF Journey management had signed off (begrudgingly or no) on the charity gig with Lani,
they would have asked if it would be a problem SB-wise, and that means Arnel told them it wouldn't.
Let's not confuse the principal party with minor accessories.
Minsan lang ang pagkakataon 'tulad ng Superbowl, even if it's just the Tailgate gig, and Arnel blew it,
period. Bad sound system my ass --we're talking about flubbed lyrics, oversinging, pitchiness and an
accent every bit as pronounced as when he was still auditioning.
He simply didn't prepare enough for the SB-TG gig:
Setting aside necessary conservation of energy and recovery from jetlag:
If it takes weeks of being around Americans to lose enough of the accent, then
there has to be allowance for it, in the States, prior to performing with Journey.
(Spending that time amidst Filipino-accented English defeats the purpose).
While I disagree with the assmunching hypocrites on this board who say that Journey hiring Arnel
was a mistake, you have to understand that Arnel's lack of preparation is HIS responsibility alone.
he knows his voice, and now knows what U.S. weather is like.
He's not some toddler, and he shouldn't need to be toilet trained.
He should be able to take a leak safely without Journey management having to hold his dick steady,
but what Arnel did was piss all over the SB opportunity.
When he's truly on, he's pure gold.
Making sure he's on, 100%,
for Journey is his priority work obligation.
