I saw this on Andrew's page. How damned sad this is.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I heard the fire was deliberately started too. That made it even more messed up than already is.

The circumstances are sad indeed. But the picture itself is amazingly touching.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see this one receive at least a handful of photojournalism awards...

The way he's holding it's hand is so sweet and sad at the same time :( I know lots of people died too, and it's beyond horribly tragic, but I guess I never think about all the wildlife lost also. Sick people who can do such horrible things :x

I should be saying something touching right now, but all I can think of is how much I want a Koala Bear.

Saw this on the other thread. Definately material for 100 of the greatest photos in history. You don't know who to hug first the Firefighter, or the Koala.........but how desperate the animal must have been to trust a human that much............

I heard that Koala had some burned paws but she is doing fine now at the Wildlife shelter and has even attracted a male koala.
This horrible thing makes me sick and to think someone may have started this whole thing makes me want to do bad things to them.

That Koala must really be thirsty cause it's letting these people get close like that. Or are Koala's just that friendly out in the wild?

Phenomenal pic, the photog deserves the Pulitzer right now.

Some more pix and the article. It turns out that this particular Koala is a female and was burned badly on it's paws.

NIG, this is one of your classics - and you've had many.

Their fat and psychopathic wives
