She said in an interview that financial assistance was there to help with kids who needed it and the other assistance she's on is there for people who need it. I agree and she may have needed it for the disabled kids but why put yourself and your kids in the situation where you now need it even more? She thinks she's going to sit back and rely on friends, family and church to help her. Um, how about make sure you can take care of the babies you have without taking for granted that everyone will help you raise your kids and taking financial assistance you wouldn't have needed until you had too many kids? (Which she's taking from others who really do need it) I feel for the babies. I hope they all make it. The church she said she was affiliated with and that helped her find a bigger home has totally denied it saying they don't even know her. WTF? This is sickening and there's already another story about another woman doing it:

If you take the most basic point from Dean's post, it's not that bad. Those babies don't deserve to have a bad life just because they had the bad fortune of spawning from this nutjob's undoubtedly flap-jack loose and smelly womb.

I WOULD not like seeing more cases like this spring up around the country, however, with more nutjobs hoping for fame and handouts. So I think something needs to be done to make sure she and other potential copycats reap no personal rewards/leisure from whatever "help" they get. Honestly, you should get those kids out of there. But that's a tale for another time.

Deano's point was that, up until a multiple birth threatens the sovereign credit rating of the largest state in the U.S. and the world's eighth largest economy, we taxpayers should feel ashamed of ourselves for bringing up the obvious welfare burden that such a decision will leave us with. Nonsense. What's the real difference between this woman and the somewhat-famous Dugger family, now with 18 kids? The difference is: they're not knocking on my door and demanding an obligatory welfare handout. When someone makes a claim on my tax money, then it becomes my business. If someone doesn't want me judging their life and their choices, it's easy -- don't become a ward of the state through one's stupid decisions. (And this woman's decisions were very, very stupid.)

It's a cop-out (and muddleheaded thinking) to blame "the system" for an individual's irresponsibly stupid decisions. Yes, political and economic systems can incentivize and disincentivize decisions on the margin, but ultimately each individual must take responsibility for his or her own actions. And if we are to "blame the system", then the change to the system should be: if you have in vitro fertilization, then you absolve the state (and taxpayers) of any and all taxpayer-funded support (WIC, food stamps, subsidized school lunches, free health care, Section 8 housing, etc. ad nauseum) from the age of 0 to 18 for all the children.

Angelina Jolie herself is said to be ''totally creeped out'' by Nadya Suleman

Apparently, over the past year or so, Suleman has made attempts to reach out the the actress -- sending her admiring letters and extolling her talent and humanitarian efforts on behalf of children's issues around the world.

Exactly! He should be forced to pay for their upbringing. He's the one who impregnated her purposefully with 8 children.

I totally agree with every point you raised. I don't like the cop-out blame the system approach either. I just think in this particular case, something needs to be done to ensure that (a) this nutjob mother doesn't personally benefit financially; (b) those kids are kept safe (preferably removed from the mother's care) and (c) penalties/concessions, perhaps like the ones you've suggested, need to be passed into law to discourage others from learning from her example.

Yesterday on a t.v. show I saw Joan Rivers and she had the exact same plastic surgery mouth as the Octuplet mom! I heard that most women going for mouth plastic surgery come in with a pic of Angelina Jolie. Sick, very sick! At least, when Hollywood makes a movie about this they can hire Angelina and her brood to play the parts.

I agree. The kids are always the ones who pay for stupid parents. And then there is this point. I had a 30 week preemie 24 years ago. 2 pounds 3 ounces at birth. I am a RN the father an attorney...we were not ignorant people. The stress of hospital days was excrutiating. We finally brought him home at 4 pounds 2 ounces. He had absolutely NO health problems. THEN the real fun started. He had to be fed every 2 hours around the clock...no exceptions, his diapers special ordered from Pampers, he was on an apnea monitor that went off 5 to 10 times a night, he was a poor sleeper. I can't imagine multiplying that by 8!! Not bragging, but we were better equipped than most and it almost did us in. We had no more children because of it. There is no way she can provide what is needed for these 8 babies without a huge amount of full time help. Then what about the other 6? They never need to see the inside of her home. Not ever. The other 6 need to be monitored closely as well. As far as the mom is concerned, she needs to be committed. She has no respect for her children to place them in this situation. The doctor??? Needs to have his licensed snatched immediately!! JMO

For sure her nose was worked on. That's the only thing that really looks like Jolie.

If you ever see a movie called Pan's Labyrinth, in the end, the general gets his mouth cut to where its flappin' like the Joker, that's what her creepy pic reminds me of. The top upper right pic above.

Excellent summation, hope all this happens too.

There's a likelihood she'll check out when she comes down off this fame high. Exactly why those kids shouldn't be alone with her.

Nadya's plan all along.

I know you're joking and its a stretch but its obvious they influenced this nutcase. They bragged how they want a football team, well here's their chance. Jolie-Pitt can provide a foundation home for the 8 .

They can afford it and they don't have to be there. Just write the checks. On the condition that Suleman gets sterilized of course.

Hell, if the room was dark and Brad looked down while one of them was giving him some head, he wouldn't know the difference between them. They both have those amazon lips.

Interview with Oprah:

CHICAGO — The father of the California woman who recently gave birth to octuplets told Oprah Winfrey that he hopes people don't punish his grandchildren for his daughter's irresponsible behavior.

Ed Doud said in an interview taped Thursday for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that the actions of his daughter, Nadya Suleman, and her doctor were "absolutely irresponsible." But he also issued a plea for the public's help, according to excerpts of the interview released by Harpo Productions Inc.

"You know what? She needs help. I say to everybody now _ people _ we do need help," Doud said. "Do not punish my daughter for what she had done and do not punish the babies, because they were given by God."

A California-based nonprofit called Angels in Waiting has offered Suleman round-the-clock care and a place to stay with her 14 children. It would cost about $135,000 a month to provide the 12 caretakers necessary for the children, money that would have to come from public donations, founder Linda West Conforti said in Los Angeles.

The organization has the trained nursing personnel and experience in caring for very sick children, she said. The group, however, could only provide care for a limited time without the donations, she said.

Suleman, a 33-year-old single mother from Whittier, Calif., already had six children when she gave birth to octuplets in late January after undergoing in vitro fertilization. She is unemployed and lives with her mother in a three-bedroom home.

Property records show Suleman's mother, Angela, owns the home and is $23,225 behind in her mortgage payments. The house could be sold at auction beginning May 5.

In response to a question about whether he thinks his daughter is mentally stable, Doud said, "Now I'm no psychiatrist, but I question her mental situation."

Doud said he hopes Suleman will finish her education and start working so she can help support the family.

The show is scheduled to air Tuesday.

Now some Sperm Doner wants his 15.2 minutes of fame as well

Octo-pop

A former partner of the US woman who gave birth to octuplets in Los Angeles last month has said he could be their father, and that of their six siblings.

Denis Beaudoin told ABC News that he had donated sperm to his former girlfriend Nadya Suleman three times.

He has requested DNA paternity testing but said he would help Ms Suleman raise the children whatever the results.

ABC said Ms Suleman had denied Mr Beaudoin was the father but had agreed to paternity tests being carried out.

Mr Beaudoin told ABC's Good Morning America that Ms Suleman had asked him to donate sperm as she had ovarian cancer and was unable to have children.

He said he thought her request was "out of the ordinary" but that he had agreed as he "cared about her so much".

Mr Beaudoin said he was "shocked and surprised" when he heard that Ms Suleman had given birth on 26 January and that he did not believe her denials that he was the father.

"It just seems like a lot of her statements that she's made have been really inaccurate," he said.

"She initially told me the whole reason for donating sperm in the first place was to get pregnant, because she was not going to be able to have kids. And it has turned into this."

Questions raised

The birth of the eight healthy babies, nine weeks premature, was initially hailed as a medical marvel around the world.

But the public and media attitude changed after it emerged that Ms Suleman was already a mother of six, living in her parents' small home and receiving state aid.

Her use of IVF to give birth to all 14 children was also criticised by fertility experts, who questioned whether medical guidelines were met when the embryos were implanted on the last occasion.

Ms Suleman told the US media earlier this month that she wanted a big family to make up for feeling lonely as a child.

"All I wanted was children. I wanted to be a mom. That's all I ever wanted in my life. I love my children," she said.

Mr Beaudoin said she had never discussed wanting to have a large family but just had "an urge to have a child because she was not able to".

However, he said that whether or not the tests proved he was the father, he would "lend a helping hand," if Ms Suleman said she needed it.

"It's hard nowadays to raise two kids, let alone 14," he said.
