In tribute to Progs band here is the opportunity to give a name check to the garage band that you were in at school.

I was in a band called Harlequin. We were legends at Clevedon Comprehensive school for about 3 months in 1982. Our finest moment was the Kiss tribute at the end of year review show. We came out in full make up and wellington boots covered in bacofoil.

We broke up due to musical differences, or it might have been a severe breakout of acne.

Here's my first "get out of the garage" band called "Furious George". We formed in 1996 and were together for about a year and a half. We did some pretty decent sized shows towards the end of our little run, but egos were through the ROOF in this band! Pretty funny stuff.

We went into the studio for 8 hours, and recorded a five song demo. It was all pretty much recorded live with the exception of the vocals, and it's pretty rough if I must say so myself! I was brand new at recording, and my timing sucked!

Here's one of the songs "She's A Beauty"-the Tubes. Hope you don't bleed from the ears from this shit!

Oh my God....I LOVE this song...used to sing it all the time!

Good job....but yeah....a few "vocal accents" were missing....but it sounded really good!

I started out with the keys at an already fast pace...then the drummer came in (on crack-okay...not really) and sped the shit up even faster!!!

By the way, I had nothing to do with the vocals in this band...it was strictly our singer and lead guitarist on backing vocals...At least I didn't fuck THAT up.

Funny thing was he had the biggest ego of anyone I've jammed with. He'd show up an hour or two late for gigs sometimes, and just stroll in the club like "what? What the fuck's wrong with you guys?" He NEVER stuck around to pack up gear either. What a dick.

Didn't play, I sang. No tapes that I know of exist. It was started by one of our music instructors. She held auditions and I was one of 6 to be chosen. She started the band, and I was one of the first members. I was also in choir, a quartet, and sang at weddings. As I said dull to most of you guys. I had about 2 or 3 solos. Mostly duets.

Hey...that's cool. My dad actually sang in a barbershop quartet in the 70's! I still remember hearing them when I was a kid. That's really cool about you singing though...had no clue.

Our teacher had developed cancer, and we did a reunion of all the Horizon bands through the years, we were the original group. Our group came back together a year or two ago to do a concert to help with the medical costs. I wasn't nervous at all, it was like old times. Miss those days sometimes you know?

Freshman year of college, I was in "Of a Lifetime" (yes, named after the track). We'd get up there and play progressive rock and 80s medleys with keyboards, guitars, vocals, and bass.... WITHOUT A FUCKING DRUMMER. Can you imagine hearing Ayreon or Dream Theater without a drummer? So bad.

Maybe Duncan was pulling a stunt one of my best friends from middle-shool would do? My buddy would always tell me and my other friends that he had a hot girlfriend that he'd "hooked up with" but she was from out of town..."we wouldn't know her!" I grew up and spent 11 years in a town in Canada (population 900)... the nearest town was 30 miles away!

I'm just messing with you Duncan...I just needed an excuse to tell that story!

I was never in a garage band, but in my teens I ran the lights and sound and was the generic groupie for some friends. Can't tell you the name of the band, they changed it so often! I remember spending about three days painting up a 'skin' for the bass drum with 'Fire Fleas' on it (I think they'd had that name for about 3 months) only to be told on the day I'd nearly finished it that they'd changed the name again. I'd worked out a killer logo and everything!

They were a pretty good band though; late 80s hair metal, mix of covers and originals and the bass player looked scarily like Slash but with coke bottle glasses. Should track those guys down for old times' sake.
