Larry can't be that old, I was 13 in 2001. I'm a little older now. If he is that old, kudos to him for having this new-fangled internet thingy figured out pretty well.

I was 15, lol. I remember ridin in the car with my dad on a road trip and introducing him to Arrival, which he had gotten me for my birthday. Augeri's voice floored him.

I honestly have never seen a single person say anything so horrible about Augeri. He seems to be one of the more universally liked guys on the planet. The only things I read upon Augeri departing Journey was that he wasn't singing live. Those accusations were proven to be valid. While I agree with the sentiment that the entire band is absolutely culpable for the lip syncing fiasco, Augeri was part of the fraud perpetrated on paying fans. That doesn't make Augeri the devil incarnate. It simply means that he (and the rest of the band) used VERY poor judgement. I'm genuinely happy for the guy that he seems to have landed on his feet. I'd personally pay to listen to Augeri sing...Just not Journey music.

Oh it wasn't a single person....it was a mob of people. And if you didn't see them say anything horrible about him then you weren't paying attention. And heaven help you if you defended him, then you were blasted as well. It wasn't until the band shit canned JSS that the tide started turning and people started to see Neal and Jon might be the problem and they started easing up on SA.

hey kel.. i bet you most of all have been waiting for good news just like this.. your an A+ fan..

but dont you think it would kinda funny if we could list all the "ashamed" people.. it might just

be me but that would be funny.. 8)

Arrival is one of my favs of all time.. his best vocals.. not a bad tune

Hehehe.....oh I remember who they were!! And I just shake my head now at how they now support him.

I love Arrival as well. A couple ballads I'm not that crazy about....but overall there are alot of good songs on it.

When were you here defending him during tapegate? Myself, NIG, J28, AR(who then turned on Augeri), and NoMoreTails probly Amaron were the only really consistent defenders of him. Stupidly, I even denied the tapes for a while, got my ass kicked by TNC and Dean for it but I lived.

I was here. Not that much though. It was too vicious. I was at BT as well and was bashed in both places. Maria as well. Penny and Dr. Val also were here defending him. Maybe not as much as you guys because we didn't want to go through the attacks, but we were here.

Tapegate is what brought me here. I couldn't deny the evidence, but I've always loved SA. I wouldn't have been slaggin on the guy too bad. It's been painfully obvious to me the whole time that it wasn't exactly his own decision...

Andrew: Wonderful interview. :D :D

When I read this SA answer, it made me think of Steve Perry........."Again, getting back on track, you put into perspective and you say, “Look. You're a rock and roll singer in a rock and roll band. Life goes on. There are wars on the other side of the planet; there are people hungry in Africa. You're just a singer in a rock and roll band. Pick yourself up - it's not the end of the world. It's gonna be ok.” And you know what? At the end of the day, you're gonna be alright. I've got a smile on my face and I'm a happy man today and that's all I can say. I've got a new record out. I'm writing new music. I'm singing again. The sun's shining once more for Steve Augeri."

I'm hoping that Steve Perry has the same attitude........... and a "new record" will be coming out soon................

Ok. I just have to say one thing: some people keep claiming they have always supported Augeri....ok, whatever. There were a bunch of "new" fans of Augeri when ARRIVAL came out and the years following. We were grateful they finally showed up. HOWEVER, Augeri had been with the band since 1998. Um...there are some of us who have been fans of his since THEN. You want to talk about Augeri bashers.... there were plenty of them from 1998-2001 as well. We had to "fight the good fight" for him before many people posting in this thread had ever been to a Journey show (at least an SA fronted one.)

That being said...YES I am also glad that some others are realizing how humble, intelligent and wonderful this man is....some of us have known that for over 10 years now!
