Looks like the next DVD may be done in Manila.
Interesting that KS does not mention the Journey SuperBowl performance with Robert Plant there (and you know he watched it). I'm sure Arnel and Journey will be able to "pick themselves up, dust themselves off and start all over again", except this time they're starting from a lot higher place.
I suspect (and hope) this will be a great performance by the band and hope it does show up on DVD. I'm sure there will be so many excited AP fans that will make sure it is well broadcast prior to the DVD (Is this a good thing? I don't know)

Is this Journey-specific? Because I'm picturing this show in Manila will have the type of atmosphere like the Rush In Rio DVD, and Rush seem to like having that one on DVD. I'm sure it's expensive as hell to record a DVD outside the US, but I wonder if they'll go for the novelty and the huge crowd?

I hope so. It seemed like the Revelation DVD concert was quite small relative to even the one in Vegas with Augeri. I'd like to see a pretty damn good crowd. And better sound quality than on Revelation; I could barely hear Arnel on "Wildest Dreams" and a couple of others.

Agree with you on that one. The Revelation DVD was simply a rush-job. The camera shots weren't that good (The camera on Deen in particular - he was always obscured by the drums), and the audio was shaky. Plus it was only 60 minutes long. They just wanted to get this one out in the Revelation package. I still think the Arrival DVD is one of the better-produced concert DVDs I've seen. I'd like to see them really take their time, shoot and produce it right, and release the whole show. Rush got it exactly right with their Snakes & Arrows Live DVD. Phenomenal on all counts.

I think you can bet on that![]()

- Better sound quality; Arnel front-and-center but the backing vocals need to be cranked up as well. Revelation screwed the pootch with both the CD and DVD when it came to backing vocals and they're Journey staples. Get it right.
- Better video quality (the camera shots weren't shitty, but they were poor relative to Arrival).
- An intro. When I saw Journey in Nashville this year, they came out to AC/DC's "Back In Black" on the video screens and the crowd went fucknuts. It would be a great way to demonstrate the hype and intensity of the crowd before they ultimately get silenced for the performance.
- Extras?

Are you being serious or facetious?
Honestly, I doubt they will, but I would be pleasantly surprised. I would also like some songs thrown in off of Arrival (i.e. "Higher Place" or "World Gone Wild" or "To Be Alive Again"), but I think I'm asking for too much.

Damn right. All 28,000 people in Chicago exploded when Back In Black started and Journey was on the video board getting hyped backstage before the show. It was crazy how loud the place got. Not an empty chair in the house. I'd love to see that on a DVD.

They are going to balladville. Count on all the slow songs from Revelation and any other slow burners from the back catalogue.

Nah, I don't believe that. They rocked pretty damn hard this year; Neal has to sacrifice to the ballad gods in the studio. But when it comes to the live arena, he is lord of all he surveys. He'll nail that fucking rhythm guitar to Jonathan Cain's hands and paint a shit-eating grin on the keyboardist's face before that happens.
