Rehash...

Just move on dude. Nobody likes someone with an agenda, especially a negative agenda that just puts people down. If you don't like the band, you don't have to follow them. Simple as that.

and I agree. I was one that was not impressed by Augeri, blown away by JSS, disheartened (again) by his dismissal, and then even more so by their choice of JSS's replacement. After seeing the Superbowl, arguably the most important gig they had to-date to show off Arnel, many feel it was sub-par at best. Arnel had not re-anglicized his pronunciations due to his vacation back home, the same too-long notes as Chile, the spasmodic stage presence... ugh. Add eye rolling to the list now... and I'm thinking ...

they dumped Jeff for this??? WTF? Two months back home and it's the same garbage as Chile?

Does he have a good voice? Yes. Does he have the right voice? In my opinion, no. There's still struggling going on in hitting some key notes, not to mention the blasted holding onto notes too long. Does he not read music? 1/2 note, 1/4 note, whole note etc. And blaming his lack of preparation on being sick is no longer ok. Is he or is he not a professional? If you are a lead singer of a major Rock band like Journey, you have to be. So no bloody excuses. Does Neal come up with excuses? No. He plays. Same with the rest of the guys.. they suit up and show up and perform. So if Arnel isn't taking care of his instrument while on vacation, it affects the band. Neal wouldn't leave his guitar out in the rain, ya know?

I had the same issues back with the Chile introduction of Arnel, so after all this time, I see no improvement. And I can't tell you how disappointing that is. I don't just want someone that can hit most of the notes ... not for this band.

Journey doesn't get my money anymore. and it breaks my heart.

I always hear about Ritchie Blackmore that he was so narcisistic person, and that he was this and the other..well he is a human, a genius, and i guess artist can show a special behavior sometimes, but never change my mind about his work in music, he is an awesome guitar player, and now he is with his personal project wich i'm not really interested so i don't listen..but i'll never want for him he quit making music whatever this might be, and yes i prefer him in rainbow or deep purple, but well is my option keep buying his new music or not.
as for Journey..with all the new bands around and after all this time this band still remain, and still creates, hope they can come out with new music material and better records with Pineda, is all i care.

You're so right, Carla. I'm sure Perry, Neal, and Jonathan have all been assholes many times over. Creatively speaking they're fantastic.

Sometimes we all can be, quite a human trait    .....but creative yes, none the less! :D

If being an asshole or a douchbag were grounds for cutting off dealings with people, they'd have to shut the place I work down because we wouldn't be able to conduct business.

It's pretty breathtaking. Eveyone has long strings of initials after their names, most are totally convinced that their needs are way more important than everyone else's, and a goodly chunk of them actually BELIEVE what is written in their press releases about how smart and important they are. MR trolls and psycho bees seem tame by comparison some days. :)

and I appreciate that. My biggest issue isn't his notes, but the diction. I find his diction, lack of pronunciation, just too distracting, and that's why I don't feel he is right for the job. The other issues, while important, wouldn't be deal breakers for me, but the diction is. I had a lot of music training when I was young. A lot. Pronouncing all the words correctly so that they can be understood was a big issue for me, as well as everyone else I worked with. Maybe that's why it's such a big deal for me. But then again, I do a lot of stagework now, and if I don't pronounce my words perfectly, the guy in the back row has no clue what I'm saying. So yeah... there ya go.

Awww crap...come on Liam...youre a better person then that and you just lost all credibilty in your positions. That comment is just said to entice animosity. So what if dogs have been consumed in the culture? This comment just comes off as racist even if you don't mean it that way. It's also unfair to attack Arnel due to things the band members have done in the past. He's not to blame. Or just because you prefer someone else. If you don't like his singing then fine..thats your opinion and he can be held accountable for his performances....but don't attack him for who he is. Hey..he took an opportunity that was brought to him...he didn't do anything to anyone to get it. If you were in his shoes and Neal had called you up and given you the opportunity of a lifetime you would have taken it to. I can see where you are coming from with what you are saying in regards to other things but you have no basis for attacking Arnel as a person or his culture. Thats just not cool.

Arnel...the guy is NOT a frontman, nor does he have the chops to pull off that catalog. Again...good voice, but not for Journey. They need someone to annunciate the words.

and I agree.

Journey did a great show in Santiago after his performance in viña del mar (the tv show), and for what i read and told very good other shows in others part of the world too...is all i have to say about it..the other part of your post i don't agree in all, specially in the part that arnel don't have the right voice for Journey..but well is your opinion and your choice too.

and I appreciate that.
When I saw Arnel last summer, i didnt notice the "dictation" i noticed it at the pre superbowl game though. They might have to lock him up with Friga, to keep his accent awayalthough he might start to pronunce his ss different

As for what I said, I don't know if it was meant to be racist or not. But it is stereotypical, and was not meant to be kind.

SOME, not the entire culture. You have no proof that he's ever, so saying it as fact, not only makes you look like a moron, which it does, but it debases your whole argument.
