Interesting reading. This isn't exactly how I had heard things happened. Hmm.....
I hope he comes back to the forum soon.

Hell, I've never seen this. Jon let me down in this interview.

It's over a year old and already been discussed ad nauseum here.

It's just that the SOS keeps coming up over and over and over. It's old news and at this point most of us just don't care anymore.

If it's so old, than why bother waisting your precious time posting on it?
I was just putting up an article that I thought some people would enjoy reading.

Why bother posting crap that's over a year old like it's something new?

I'm really not seeing the harm done. Andrew can lock or delete the thread, but I'm glad she posted it. A pleasant surprise.

Madsplash isn't a woman?

That's, like, the second time I've done that here.

Well, he does drool and fawn over Perry more than any of the female spoons here so I guess I can see where you might think he was a woman.

That's actually spot on as to why I thought he was a she.

A little blunt, but spot on.

I thought the article was great. More power to Jeremey. I hope he gets his chance to sing for Journey. Who knows - maybe 2010 or 2011. He sounds more like Perry to me than Arnel or Augeri.

I agree.

Augeri and Arnel have similarities with Perry, but I don't think either of them are identical to him. The closest one to Perry's exact tone, in my opinion, was Kevin Chalfant. I've never heard Jason Kelty nor have I heard tons of Jeremey's work.

How does he compare to Perry technically?

Jeremey is the best out there. Chalfant imo was never a good match for Perry. Great singer in his own right though. Kelty is good on certain stuff, but Jeremey's got everything: stage presence, his own style, the range, the power.

Well, maybe it's just me, but one of the few videos I've listened to Jeremey was his take on "Suzanne." Now, I realize he's a tribute singer, but he seemed to try to replicate all of Perry's mannerisms to the point that it sounded very forced.

You just gotta see him live. It's unbelievable. He's out there singing for 2.5 hrs, hitting every single note, and his voice doesn't even come close to cracking once. He nails all the hardest ones like "Ask The Lonely" without even visibly straining for notes (those outro "ASK THE LO-LO-LO-LO-LONELYS are so fuckin hard to sing).

Thanks Andrew. I think we can stay on topic.

I have to admit, I was very skeptical of Jeremey's abilities to front Journey when I first heard his recordings. But at the time everybody from Hugo to Chalfant was rumored to be auditioning for Journey, and I didn't think Jeremey stood out in the pack. But some time ago I changed my mind after hearing more of his recordings.

For example, go to his MySpace page and check out the latest recordings of Separate Ways, Be Good To Yourself, DSB, and others and see if you don't agree:

http://www.myspace.com/journeymusiclive

If that doesn't convince you, check out this version of Girl Can't Help It:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiJBjm_7VTI

I'm pretty sold on the guy. He nails that Perry-ish soulful bluesy tenor better than anyone I have ever heard except for The Voice himself.

??? So, is Journey auditioning for a lead singer again??? If not, then the cheerleading for Jeremey is a moot point. He had his shot. He didn't make it. It was over a year ago. Good grief...move on.

This was a video I took with a crappy digital camera, but I think it reflects J's ability to express the songs the way the MASTER meant for them to be...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZGl4uYsAqk

And I posted this recently but if anyone's interested, here it is again: WCTNGOF (same crappy camera)

Virginia's loss is the country's gain: if you guys get a chance to see Frontiers (although the band is almost completely different than what you see in these videos) I encourage you to go. It's a great show! 8)

Take a shot where you can.

Not sure if anyone else did, but I read between the lines.

The name of the band is Journey. Their lead singer is Arnel Pineda. He won the job, rightfully. He was the best man for the job. He's been amazing and those that say different are delusional.

You have no idea what the master would prefer, now do you?

Sorry. You are not delusional because you think he has not been 'amazing'. He has been very good. He's also had some missteps. But to call his overall performance 'amazing'...well that is an opinion that I'm not sure everyone will share, and I don't think people should be called names because they think otherwise.

I was just considering if maybe another consideration for Journey, when choosing Arnel, was to open up a whole new fan base in the Asian territories. There is a huge new fanbase in the Philippines, although I hear that the Filipinos were always Journey fans from way back.
