Jeremey/GI Jim demos

Postby G.I.Jim » Mon Feb 23, 2009 11:26 am

Hey everyone,

Just to clear the air a little here...I figured I'd let everyone hear a few demos that Jeremey and I recorded a few years ago. They are uploading now, but rather than wait (it's going to take a while), I figured I'd just post them as they upload. These are some of my old songs and they've all been re-recorded since these versions were recorded. I played almost all of the instruments, and my sounds really sucked at the time...bear with them! I hope you like them.

Jeremey really does have a great voice, and it's a shame that we just didn't click as songwriters. These songs really weren't suited to his vocal range, so you've gotta cut him some slack. I know there's been some bridge burning between the two of us on here, but I really do wish him the best in whatever he does.

Here's an old version of "I'm Not Ready"....

That's a nice gesture. Very cool.

That first song is damn good. You two sound great together. Like you said, too bad there wasn't more chemistry. I don't know where it sounds bad. I guess a musician can hear things that I can't. That or you're just a self-deprecating fucker.

Here's his version of my song "Rumor's Out". It's interesting to listen to this, then go check out my version on www.myspace.com/jimrykbost and listen to Alex's take. Two completely different singers with completely different styles!

Here it is...

I got a feeling that soon, to type Jeremey's name here, you're going to have to to do it like those other banned words. J*#$@y.

 I don't think Andrew likes anything I type. Seems like he deletes or closes threads as soon as I post something. Just saying!

Here's Jeremey's version of "Long Night". The funny thing about this song is that he had his fellow songwriter Juhani (can't recall his last name now) join in on this song. We talked about the three of us collaberating, but it never materialized. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

Ah, and thanks Rick...I really appreciate it.

Really? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see Jeremey causing any problems here. It's probably more like the Jeremey-haters that cause the hostility. I really don't get it.

I think Steve Perry gets most of the love here, and there is only enough left over for one of his impersonators at a time. The rest become hated.

Aren't I always? Thanks for the compliments! I just wish they were put together a little better back then. I learn more and more each year, and when I go back and listen to stuff from the past I always cringe. I have a long way to go on my songs and song writing, but I'm definitely making progress on them. I just hope someone likes my album (besides me) when I finish it.

Here's the only clip left on Youtube of my time with Frontiers. After I quit the band, all of my videos were pulled. I believe this was my last show with the band. It was at "Andrew's Upstairs" in Atlanta GA. We played that night to a full house (around 750 people I believe). It was a cool night, but I was a nervous wreck up there! I was having a hard time hearing anything in my in-ears, and the guy running the lights really screwed me up a couple of times.

When I played the first notes on "Open Arms", he was supposed to bring the lights up. 30 seconds into the song, he finally starts bringing them up. I had to play 30 seconds of the song in pitch-black, and it caused me to screw up about three notes...REALLY fucked with my head for a while up there, as it was all on me!  Barry was great about it at the time though...he was constantly hanging out on my side of the stage cutting jokes while we were playing. I really miss playing with Barry.

Listen to how fast I start playing the beginning of this song...I sound like Cain on the "Raised On Radio" tour for crying out loud!  It did go really smooth once I got calmed back down though...fun night.

I never noticed that Jim, so don't take it personally.

I appreciate that. It just seems that several times there will be a thread several pages deep, then the minute I post something...BAM! It's closed. Guess I just have some bad timing.
Have you been posting in threads I have? I think I've got ya beat in threads I've posted in thread locks.

It's happened to me twice. Right after my post, LOCKED. It's embarrassing, I feel like a kid in trouble.

Twice?..TWICE?..Are you kidding me? Twice is nothing!

Yeah...well...I'm the quiet middle kid.
LOL! Thats funny because believe it or not I am too! ..another myth shattered. :?
yes it's true..I am a middle kid and I'm only loud in type, but don't tell anyone
