Right, asshole. The fucking Ramones, the most talentless hacks to ever record an album, are #2? And most people I know HATE the Stones (although I'm not in that silent majority).
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Probably one of his faves. Yeah #2 is unrealistic. Hell # 27 on a Ten list is probably too high.

But they're not completely talentless. This is catchy.

Now the Romantics, I'd say they're talentless hacks.

Just another indication that Rolling Stone magazine should go straight to the recycling bin. Is there a decent music magazine out there that is about the music and does what Rolling Stone should have been doing all of these years? Instead of writing about the music, Rolling Stone was trying to influence the music and that isn't journalism - they're a player in the industry instead of an observer.

Ramones talentless?

They managed to get their name listed in every punk article ever known.
They managed to get their name treated as a NY icon.
They managed to get into the RnRHoF.
They've been covered by countless bands.
And they've sold more black tshirts than just about anyone.

I'd say they've got more talent than most...maybe not musical technical proficiency, but enough talent to manipulate the music industry itself. Wouldn't we all love to be that 'talentless'?

All incredibly dubious distinctions, to be sure, especially the Rock Hall bit. Jann Wenner smokes serious pole, literally and figuratively. They do have a few catchy songs though, and I much prefer old-school punk to the current batch of whiny shag-haired 90 lb fags.

The EIC at RS is Jann Wenner - when Ahmet Ertegun passed away, Wenner assumed the throne as Grand Poobah of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. He is also the Chair of the Executive Committe and was the one who cut the voting membership down to about 600 in order to "focus on artists and influences after the 80's" - his words in the mailing with last year's ballot).

Wenner's best bud is Jon Landau, infamous rock critic, movie producer, and now Bruce's manager. Landau is the Chair of the Nominating Committee of the RnRHoF

Wenner and Landau hate Journey ever since Landau blasted them for being "corporate rock" back in 1979.

Mystery solved.
