Wow! Not much advance notice, but I bought two tickets in the hopes I can get out of work that day. I'm software training that whole week with out-of-towners and if they stay through Friday, I'm SOL. :(

That's great they're making their way to TX! :D

Hey Linda - awesome you can come! How old are your kids? I was going to bring my teen daughter, but the Meredian site says for this particular show no one under 18 allowed. :(

That's not the case for all shows there as they have had shows with kids as young as 13 there before. Don't know why they would raise it for Jeremey's show, doesn't make sense.

Kids are 21 and 23; guess I should call them young men these days. Big Journey fans ... they've seen SA, JSS, and Arnel; they're troupers & keep their mom out of trouble. Meridian is pretty much a dump, but oh well ... it'll be fun.

This will be terrific! It's great to have a mix of Journey fans of all ages. About the Meredian, after a few drinks and Jeremey starts cranking out the great tunes, we probably won't even notice the "surroundings" LOL.

Thanks, LLL. Looks like maybe Louisiana for Saturday night. It's promising that they've finally added one Texas show to the tour. Hopefully we'll get a full tour eventually. Houston, San Antonio, Dallas would be awesome!

Based on Youtube...Jeremey sounds pretty dang good. However...for those that have seen them...how is the guitarist? 50% of why enjoy Journey is for Neal's guitar work. Again...from what I have heard on Youtube...Frontiers guitar doesn't seem to be at the same level as the vocals.

I'd be interested to hear.

I think they used to have a two guitar set-up and most of the videos on YT feature that. Those guys sound good on the vids, but the new guy's definitely better. Their new guy is a GREAT player and fun to watch on stage. He cops Neal very well and puts his own spin on stuff here and there when he can (i.e. when it's not one of Neal's trademark solos like DSB or Faithfully)

Edit: And I say this as a guitar player and someone who listens to Journey just as much for Neal's guitar (if not more so) than for SP's vocals.

Right on the edge of downtown, not the best of neighborhoods. They have a parking lot across the street. The place is a dive, frankly, but they seem to get decent acts on a regular basis. I saw Gregg Allman there. And JSS.

I don't understand how Frontiers can make such a long trip (from Roanoke, VA) and make money. There were only about 200 people (maximum) at the show I saw recently in Cincinnati. 200 people x $10/tix = $2,000. It doesn't add up.

Well I don't know what capacity is at the HOB but they were sold out in Cleveland and packed wall-to-wall. But just going on your $2000 estimation, that's not always where bands get their cut. Depends on what is worked out in the contract. Sometimes they take part of door sales and also get a certain cut of bar/food sales for the night as well. Sometimes it is a flat fee regardless of the crowd turnout. By no means is a cross-country trip a ploy to get rich quick, but getting their face and sound out to a new area of potential fans pays off down the line. A little sacrifice now for a bigger gain later.

As much classic Journey as gets airplay in the mid-south, you'd think they could eventually get a few dates in LR or Memphis. Oh well, we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Usually when tribute bands perform there's also a negotiated flat fee. Sometimes then get a slice of the door as well. But they rarely if ever get "percentage of the door only". No way, it's up to the venue to advertise out of state acts.

..:: Admission ::..Advance: $10 :: Day of Show: $12

Won't know if I get to go until late next week, I guess. My hubby is off work that day, but I can't get any promises from my job yet. :?

I've ordered tickets just in case it works out. :)

From the FAQ section of the Meredian's website:

Should I buy tickets in advance?

Answer:
The short answer is yes. The longer answer is, we do not always know which shows will sell out, nor how soon. The question is not so much how likely is it to sell out, but how much you want to see the show. We have had too many people call the day of show to see if tickets are available only to be heartbroken to find out it sold out a week earlier

The link to the Meredian is in the top post above. You can call them to confirm how they will be selling tickets for the Frontiers show just to be sure.

Thanks so much :D

Don't try to buy at the door. I thought we'd be able to in Cleveland, and it had sold out a day or two beforehand. Good thing we got ourselves arranged in advance.

And get there before the doors open if you want to be near the stage/be able to see the band ... big dark room with a low ceiling and a very few tables toward the back

Or just go with someone who has zero problem shoving through a crowd, pushing people away and swiping a place in the front even though its already packed. That's what I did. 8)

there's a positive - I look better in the dark anyway

sorry to ask so many questions, but , here's another...Is 7:30 early enough? (my usual club circuit is in the Latin time zone, which tends to lean towards the late)

Thanks again :)
