Actually, that's the heart of the reason that I'm not as fond of the '80 - '83 era Perry. The "oohs" and "aahs" in moderation are fine and given Arnel's accent, tolerable. But when Perry did it, I found myself becoming irritated with his theatrics. His voice was enough that he didn't need to go overboard with the extended vowels after every lyric, but I felt he often did.

I find myself ooh'ing and aah'ing.....siiiiiigh!!!

Sugar it is the delivery. Men should learn that how a man whispers in a womans ear is just as important as what he whispers. We like this stuff.

Agreed, it's all a part of the emoting to me. Maybe some (mainly guys) don't like it, but I like all the little "wooos" "waaas", grunts, groans, whatever. Especially live! Maybe that's why I like songs that have a motownish/r&b feel to them.

I'm a guy and i like i - helps to make it sound more real - but then, i can listen to Ms Nicks croaking all day - in fact sometimes on some of my boots when her voice faulters and cracks, those moments are precious as it makes her so vulnerable and makes me fall in love with her all over again.
I'm not really a sap by the way - i'm a beer drinking man's man - but Stevie melts me now -25 years ago,,, tomorrow...etc.
