Weird.

Chain Reaction, Keep On Runnin, Where Were You, Wheel, Line of Fire, Sep Ways, Troubled Child, Rubicon, Out of Harm's Way, Winds of March, and some old classics like Kohoutek, Of a Lifetime, Topaz etc.

Plenty of songs, really. Give Neal more face time, much of the crowd will love it, guaranteed.

As long as there is no mention of faded photographs, sad cafes or forever yours, they should be okay.

hahaha!!!!!!!! Gunbot, you cracked me up!!! Yeah , as long as there's no more cheesy music, i want Journey to play more rock this time.

Arnel will thank me for it later. His voice will last twice as long if they did this instead of having him singing those high note ballads all the time.

well, JSS would have drawn the crowd for sure. Jboyz may have misstepped on this count.

I'm not so sure JSS would spit in their face. It is bad timing for sure as he is promoting the BM cd now, so he would refuse for that reason for sure. JSS has another project in the works, per the ARfm interview, that he is delaying promoting in favor of the BM release so I doubt that he would let something else slide in.

ps, JSS ALWAYS has the crowd eating out of his hand. and the JSS crowds in Europe are huge, not like here.

That pisses me off too. He doesn't draw well here, so we don't get many shows to go to. Hopefully the thing with Rocklahoma will happen and he'll do dates in the US. I don't think I'm up for Rocklahoma though. My mom used to live in Pryor though, would be cool to see that town again.

I actually don't think it is a mis-step. When I saw Journey follow Alice Cooper at Monsters of Rock with Augeri, all the goth kids knew all the words to the songs and really got into the show. I'm betting there are a lot of heavy metal fans that still appreciate Journey music. The question is would it be better with JSS since he is better known in Europe or AP who can definately sing the music? I'm betting Journey will definately keep the audience.

I loved the idea of getting JSS to front Journey in Europe. I know he wouldn't do it, but the idea was cool. Not taking anything away from Arnel, as I think he's fantastic and deserves the job, but I sure loved seeing Jeff in Journey. He is a true showman.

I still love JSS and he did such a great job with Journey. But I think at these big festivals it's all about Journey music and maybe a little new music. I don't think JSS would have made a difference in these festival type shows. Arnel will do just fine.

Am i the only one who don't want Journey to change their sound, and rock harder.
Journey music is all about melody. Have people forgotten that. Its how they made the money and its how they became the band they were/are.
They are not a fuckin hard rock/metal band, and they shouldn't try to change now. They are all too fuckin old to start that shit for a start off.
Red 13 and Generations were heavier, and they fell flat on their fuckin asses with those releases. They DID NOT bring in any new fans, but probably lost fuckin loads in the process.
They have released Revelation and it sold well, very well, was raved about left right and fuckin center, especially on this board, and now some of you are sayin the same ol shit all over again, rock harder. Fuck rock harder. Be fuckin Journey, and continue with the sound that made you great.
They DO NOT belong at this festival and will get serious shit dealt their way from the audience there. 'Rock harder', NO PLEASE DON'T.

They've made millions, they've sold millions. They can do what ever they want right now. I love the idea of them rocking harder. They're close to retirement age, why not make music for themselves for a change. Though, You're right about this festival. If they're gonna have Faithfully or Open Arms in the setlist, Arnel better being be wearing a hardhat. Journey actually got booed at the first concert I saw them at, on the Tattoo You tour at JFK, not a pleasant experience for them, I'm sure. I hope Arnel doesn't take it personally if there are a few Scandinavian Hecklers out there.

It's not like they are setting out to write all-new heavy material, at least not that we know of. For those of us who have seen them a bunch of times and seen them play the same old setlist, it'd be cool to see them throw in some deeper, heavier cuts that they already have in their catalog at a few shows.

Does Journey hold any credibility with the fans of these other bands? Chances are their set will be one long piss break for everyone else.

Some of our members are assuring us that Journey will rock the house and a lot of these groups have closeted Journey fans amongst them.
So no worries, mate.

All I know is that Dream Theater will bring tons of fans to the festival and many, many prog-metal fans enjoy Toto, Journey, Styx, Kansas etc a lot. I'm one of those people!

I agree with throwing in some heavier cuts in a live setting, i didn't mean stick to the dirty dozen when they play live. I would not like Journey to sell out what they have stood for all these years when recording.
And Gunbot, Arnel will definately need his hard hat when they play there, the band are on completely the wrong show there, no matter what they play.
