I usually only get coffee there, looks like I'll be skipping them altogether.

Doesn't matter what happened, McDonalds insurance company will lose this case. The news fallout from this will ensure that, plus, it doesn't matter what happened, if you're on the clock unless you purposefully injure yourself, they'll have to pay it. Just another case of insurance companies trying to avoid paying workers comp, at any cost.

That is a fucked up story, but I'm sure he'll win the lawsuit (and he should!). In the meantime...I'll be supporting McDonalds one big Mac at a time to help them out with the court costs!

Used to get that 'til Carl's came out with the Steak & Egg burrito.

Hard to say if the kid over reacted. The thug may've started shooting the place up. Either way, that kids a hero (former soldier btw).

Hope he gets his worker's comp and nice fat bonus. Remember the hot coffee incident? McDonald's should've learned from that one.

I suspect once this goes to the Workmans' Compensation Court, it will be determined that McDonalds insurance company will have to pay the claim. That amount will actually be peanuts compared to the (separate) lawsuit to recover this good samaritains medical bills (300K). I don't know what's in McD's employee handbook regarding handling this type of situation, but they certainly could make the claim that this wasn't in his job description. They should pay it and make it go away before it gets any uglier than it already has. Now more than ever is not a good time to do anything that would negatively impact any goodwill the McD's name carries.

This story is a messed up, and the response by McDonalds is not a-typical for corporate behavior...

speaking of breakfasts, Wendy's has been advertising a breakfast burrito, I'm about ready to have some of that!
