Quite an interesting theory, she once wrote.
Why should someone's daily happenings tell me what I want?
But then again, when I do something quasi-profound, don't I want others to know?
He says, it's all rationale, and how you deem others worthy of your regard? Does my non-existence empower others to make their existence? And should my absence force others to become me?
But what about that?, its argued.
Yeah, what about that?, the others chime in.
Does there need to be a loud-mouthed leadership type present?
He asserts, So what if those that think they 'own this place' take a bit of a leave? Does that mean that the perceived lesser types should take control? And what does control really mean?
Ahhh, but another adds, Since when does being loud & obnoxious make one a leader? And not only that, but the potty-mouthed ones too? Who cares who drops the f-bomb to excess? Who cares who feels so insecure that they have to demean others to improve their very own existence?
But what about ME, she cries! I'm just as much a member of this family as anyone else, no?
Then she thinks...
May be not. Maybe so.
Maybe she's not as brash as all the brazen types out here. Maybe she's not as cute, or as nice-racked. Maybe she just doesn't feel the need to post her own pic...or run her mouth...as others have.
Then he adds, But you just don't have the balls.
No, she admits, of course not. What good would it do? I'm not an insider...as all those absent profess to be.

But the PMs still fly. No, they post no longer, but they still play... And so they live on...play for another day...

Silence for now, so they scheme.
Back bite and rumour, while others dream.
If only their lives were rich & full.
If only their lives weren't so dull.

When vicariously the ebbs run low.
When richly the shallow lives do flow.
All the self-important posters do surely slow.
And all our insecure lives will never know.

Slowing your mouth, doth cease you not.
Feigning silence, never cleanses your wrought.

later~

That was stellar!!! And dead on!!

+1 :!: :!: :!: :!:

Painting the house here to, it must be Ontario's weekend for it.
Hope it's going well for you, not so much in our space I blame my complaining Hubby.

Hey Moombeam, where abouts are you? I'm in Barrie. Just had 2 friends in and we primed out the horrible wood panelling in the basement family room, bedroom and bath. Renting it to a friend, great way to get the place painted. Fortunately I don't have a hubby to give me grief, or aggravate me. My divorce will be final in 3 weeks. Absafriggenfabulous!!!!!!!!!!!

Painting is brutal, but it's managable with my friends, one of them does it for a living. Just finished the ceilings, and one of the coates of colour. I am bushwacked now, actually looking forward to the work week starting so I can have a break. How did yours finish Up?

I think they are playing a shot game. Everytime they are mentioned...they do a shot. Could have an over - under bet going with the number of mentions as well. That's all I can figure.

As to the topic of this thread. The reason behind some not posting here now is largely because of the negativity that's been hefted at the band and especially Arnel.

It's been way overboard and has left me kind of put off also.

I understand people have differing opinions, and that's what message boards are all about, and I love that. But it wasn't too long ago that Arnel had this board eating out of his hands, at least by a lot of posters. Not sure what happened. The Superbowl performance shouldn't be the defining moment of his time with Journey. He's done so much better, although I didn't think he stunk it up like many say he did.

Sure, I've felt that way, too, at times. But if I left, well, then there would be one less voice for Arnel or for Journey or Neal also at times.

Plus, here I learn so much about the history of Journey, and there's a lot of discussion about Journey from the beginning on. There's so much passion for Journey's music on here whether some still like the band members or current singer or not. I don't see that kind of discussion on any other site related to Journey. I just pointblank love Journey and can't think of a bad album they've ever done (well, maybe one), and that's what ultimately binds the people on this site together, and then add in the wild divergence of opinions on band members' (past or present) character and preference for lead singer or singers and it makes for an interesting site.

There has been a lot of negativity directed at the band lately, or at least a few of its members in particular, but I hadn't noticed it was worse than usual until Liam dropped in and started that thread against Arnel. I don't understand that - Arnel is a talented, sincerely nice person trying to do a very difficult job and the Superbowl is in the past. Everyone makes errors in judgment, but when someone has the strength of character to admit to them and work harder, most people respect that and have the decency to give that person another chance. If posters are still using the Superbowl against Arnel, then I wonder if it was really about that in the first place or simply ammunition for a longstanding agenda.

If people are finding the forum too negative, instead of walking away from a great place, counter with something positive. It's one thing to criticize Journey for its screwups or make funny, reasonably harmless jokes, but what is with the nasty personal attacks? I've written more than a few posts (and started a thread) asking for explanations as to why so many posters have such grudges! I understand a couple of people have had dealings with the band and were hurt personally, but what about the rest? Perhaps I'm too forgiving, but I'm not that unkind to people who have screwed me over personally. Karma is a bitch, so why should I be one too? Perhaps we should have a thread where people can write down how they feel they were wronged and let it out - we can't set it on fire and release it, but if it would make them feel better knowing that the band might read it...
