If they couldn't "hit" with "After All These Years"? It's not happening! Perry-less Journey still have their O-fer intact and are the Detroit Lions of the music biz!!!

Oh for fuck's sake, a platinum album and two very successful tours with a third one likely on the way. Detroit Lions, get the fuck outta here. Absolutely asinine.

The issue wasn't a $5 cd or a successful tour with 2 other bands. It was the lack of a hit single. Thanks for trying to follow along.Asinine.

And what other 80s band that we all follow on here has had a breakthrough commercial single? You're over 40, you ain't hittin mainstream. They had a good AC hit in AATY and NWA was topping the classic rock playlists here in Cleveland all summer. That's more than I ever expected them to do.
You're a fool if you think Perry's voice would carry them to the top of the charts. Hell, even if he still sounded like 81 it wouldn't. Would it make for better music? Absolutely. But a hit? Not today

I don't know if that's completely true. I think they would still get something on the Hot 100 chart with Perry. A lot of Classic rock stations just won't include Journey in their setlist with out Perry. I heard NWA once and it was BUMPER MUSIC! I have never heard AATY and I live in L.A.
I'm not saying they would be rocking the charts but I do think they would have charted higher with Perry. The music wouldn't have to better, it would jut be satisfying the prejudices of stations that believe there is no Journey with out Perry. The Joe Benson, Mark and Brian shows both share that sentiment and they are the top rated shows around here.
jrnyman28 wrote:IIRC, "When You Love A Woman" was not a hit on Top 40. I believe it was on the AC chart just like "After All These Years". And while it may have charted higher I think it may have actually spent less time total.

Now, I love both of The Storm cds (and the 2nd one was just brilliant), but the 1st Two Fires cd just leaves me cold. Chalfant sounds great as always, but left to his own devices always seems to try and cram too many lyrics into the available space (Running with the Wind excluded). Barring an awful production that never should have been let out the door, I thought the 2nd Two Fires cd with Jim Peterik on co-writing was far superior. I know I'm in the minority on this however...

Production on the 2nd Two fires cd is far below the norm.

Absolutely....Kevin's voice is good, but the song-writing sucks ass. Just like Fly 2 Fr33dom....Lame. Music is cheesy. oh, IMHO.

I don't know if it's the sound of the music coming out of a laptop's speakers, but I wasn't particularly impressed with Chalfant's vocals there. I do think I'll buy the album though.
