Besides, those "Perryisms" were ripped off from Sam Cooke.
How so?!?!? I'm asking because I want to hear
your take on this!!
Many people over the years have covered Sam Cooke, yet you do not hear the same comparisons that you do when Steve Perry covers Sam Cooke or even when Steve Perry covers Steve Perry. What is it about Steve Perry voice or style that warrants such comparisons? Is it the soft, intense, yet angelic soulfulness that makes you feel every note he is delivering or is it strictly the Whoa-ah-oh-oh-oh’s?!?!?
I am a huge Sam Cooke fan and I cannot get over how, at times, I cannot tell the voices apart. Listen to Steve Perry singing Bring It On Home….absolutely amazing!!! Even the speaking voices are remarkably similar. Steve Perry may use
Cookeisms in his singing style, but there is no duplicating an intensely soulful, perfect delivery….you either have it or you don’t!!! I will forever be amazed by the similarities in these two voices.
