Musical Prodigies

Neal Schon was a musical prodigy touring with a major group when he was only a teenager.

Here is another talented kid I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot from in the future. Know of any others?

I've heard about some kid named "Steve Howe" or something like that. Apparently this young phenom can do it all. He looks even younger than his 17 years!
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Here is a short list of very talented adult musicians who started out as musical prodigies.

Joe Bonamassa: Mastered Guitar at age 11, opened for B.B. King at age 13.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd: Began at age seven; performed onstage with professionals at age thirteen [63]
Derek Trucks: Began playing with The Allman Brothers Band at age 11.

Can't remember his name but there's a guy who's been doing a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute since he was 13 or 14 and supposedly he's really good. He might be 18 or 19 today.

I searched but came up short.

Thanks for trying SC. I couldn't find anything about him either.

But here is another kid that's just fantastic.

Fell in love with this little guy. Seven years old at the time this was filmed, adorable as anything and plays beautifully.....there are quite a few clips of him on YouTube, but I like this one.

What a doll :D If he becomes a lead guitar player in a band someday he's going to break a lot of girls hearts.

I especially loved the Sponge Bob sticker on his guitar :)

Jonny Lang and Shannon Curfman both started VERY young. I think Jonny's first album came out when he was 11 or 12. Shannon recorded her major label debut when she was 13.

Thanks for sharing Carla, It's hard to believe that the video was shot 20 years ago! According to his Myspace page Rowan started playing guitar at age 5.

I've been a Jonny Lang fan for a long time, although I like his earlier more blues based work better. His christian stuff not as much. I have to admit I've never heard of Shannon so thanks for the heads up. I will definitely check out more of her music. I liked what I heard so far. :)

Well the sound is there, but the feel isn't. Life experience is what a lot of it's about, I can't connect to that at all. And Neal, for me was only interesting when Perry Joined the group.

Agreed, feeling is what it's all about. A musician/singer can have all the tools and technical skills, but if the heart and soul aren't there, they will never achieve greatness. Some of these kids may be at that level one day if they develop the feeling that comes from life experience.

No doubt about it, they are talented, give them some years as you said, we shall see something! ;)
