I initially sensed a clockwise movement. After coming across a post saying otherwise, I've "forced" her to spin the other way around with some struggle lol. Still, thinking it could be pure coincidence as the image might've been so animated as to alternately rotate in both directions, I tried "forcing" perceptions at random points, and strangely indeed, things worked...almost at will.

Odd.

Have you tried moving things with your mind, start with an ashtray?!?!?

Good one, MG ... :)

FINALly got it to switch by staring at a point ouside the frame so it was in my peripheral vision ... whew ...

Not the only one, only counter-clockwise for me. This is going to keep me up all night trying to see it the other way!!!

You guys are all kidding right? It's obviously counter-clockwise. I can't see it any other way.

Yes! Finally saw her switch a couple of times, right after I posted above.

My brain sees it logically - she is pivoting on her right leg (which is straight), and her left leg (which is at an angle) is spinning to the left (counter-clockwise).

Explain to me how you see it, if in fact you see it differently than that.

I just went and read this:

The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Like I said, logic sees it as clockwise.

I don't have a friggin' clue. I'm with you - couldn't see it clockwise for anything, then right after I posted that I looked again, and there she was spinning clockwise. I actually had a sense of her stopping and changing directions. Haven't been able to see it again, now it's back to counter-clockwise all the time for me  Guess I'm just way too logical also.

Logic sees it left side brained & counterclockwise.
If you see it counterclockwise than your brain does lead with the left side of logic but it seems your logic has a mind of its own...

I see her left leg as straight & right leg up at an angle which is turningclockwise.
Now all I can see is a clockwise spin & can't see counterclockwise at all but for the 2 times I did did see a counterclockwise rotation earlier.

After you watch it for a while you can make yourself see it either way.

That is one of the best optical illusions I have ever seen.

This one can fool you too - none of these objects are moving:

Force her left foot to take a left turn over the top of her right leg in your mind. Worked for me the opposite way.

Crazy!

Ihave a very poor left eye which has limited vision so if I am right brained my left eye should be dominant but it can't
since my right eye is stronger than the left it must give me some conflict but still I see it clockwise & I am basically using my one good right eye.

You are correct with your eyes as there is a cross over with vision in the brain
if you are left brained you right side & eyes will be dominant so maybe thats why you can see it clockwise

I'm legally blind in my left eye, but I can see the girl spinning both directions. If they had found this out when I was a kid (I thought everyone saw the world like a Monet painting) and patched my weaker eye I would not have lost the vision. But, after a certain age, like 8, the brain just ignores the signals and lets the stronger eye take over. My daughter has the same thing but has been wearing a patch & glasses for a few hours a day for several years.
Don't our eyes also see upside down and then it gets flipped right side up in the brain? I think I remember that.

I have the same thing
they knew it but I never wanted to wear a patch..
It's generically called lazy eye.
It's most successfully treated in youth
but I have heard there have been some positive results in older patients
but I think you have to reall7y try to retrain it to see...

I don't kn0w what mine sees
I see colors & shapes but can't read anything
Just the way it is.
Guess its my psychic eye
