WNCX (Cleveland) Voices of Rock poll results...sort of

Postby AJ » Fri Mar 13, 2009 7:36 am

The results are in and they have started revealing to us a new singer each day that made the top 10 voices of rock. Here is what the website says today:

Make sure to tune in to 98.5 WNCX as we count down the greatest voices in rock as voted by you! So far we've revealed Steven Tyler of Aerosmith (#10), Steve Perry of Journey (#9), Jim Morrison of the Doors (#8), and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac (#7). Who was your #1 pick? Geddy Lee of Rush, John Lennon of the Beatles or Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin? Keep listening to find out!

So we got him to #9. Not bad considering some of the competition, although most of us believe he should be #1!!

Thanks for voting!

If you want to check yourself it is in www.wncx.com

If Geddy Lee or John Lennon beat Steve Perry, I might lose all faith in human kind. Technically, there's no comparison. Perry kicks the shit out of Lennon in all technical aspects, and while Lee may have an upper register that rivaled (or surpassed) Perry in his prime, he still comes up short in the rest.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Most people are going to vote for their favorite no matter how they compare to Perry. As big as Journey was the Beatles will always be bigger so dont be surprised if Lennon wins. Lennon may not have had the range or chops however him and Paul came up with some of the most catchy tunes and vocal melodies ever. The Beatles gave us much of what we love today (and hate).

I have a pole for the poll. What a bunch of bollocks. Bob Seger ... please. Perry should be #1.
