In for a penny, in for a pound, I always say.

We won't talk money... This little girl already knows money. She gets all daddy's change at the end of the day. I purposly don't use change at the stores. I always round up to the next dollar to get change back. At the end off the day, I'll take my change out and jingle it in my hand. She'll run to me saying MONEY MONEY!!! We then have the ritual of going upstairs to the jug (a converted trail mix container), where I put the money on the floor, and ask her to pick out a specific coin. I'll ask for a penny or dime, etc.. She finds one of what I ask for and I have her repeat the coin I ask for and then she can put it in the slot on the jug. She's pretty good at it for not even being 2 yet. We then put both our hands on the jug and "Shake It Up", and then put it back on the shelfIt all goes into her savings account, which I started the day she was born

She can have an allowance which will be hers, but this change will go into a different account which she won't get at. When I started working when I was 15, my parents made me put half of my check into savings. It helped me buy my first car. It works and I plan on carrying on that with my daughter. She will not get everything handed to her. Kids will respect stuff more when it's their own work going into earning it.

She got in the way of me moving the coffee table this morning so I put my hand out and moved her backwards... Her little eyebrows dropped, I got a stern look, and she blurted out "No Push! Time Out!" and then pointed to the time out spot by the wall. All while keeping the stern look. I tried not to laugh, but it was impossible with my wife roaring with laughter from the kitchen...
