Never heard the Perry version of After All These Years ... got a link? :D

Perry's an effing genius, but this is the Journey we've got, and I, for one, think it is a gift to still be able to be able to see them live and to get new music from them. Arnel is living the dream; he just exudes joy & it's beautiful to see.

These guys are creative once again. They're adding cool little nuances to a lot of songs that's making old songs seem surprisingly new.

Don't kid yourselves...they read this site and they've listened to a lot of the ideas propsed here. The Separate Ways alteration is just stunningly kick ass. Castronovo just fucking destroys shit in the new version. Outstanding way of creating an outlet for the man behind the kit. He really shines in the new version. And yes, the "new" Open Arms has a lot more balls to it. I like it much better than the Houston version.

Wouldn't go that far. "Open Arms" and badass don't belong in the same sentence together. Unless that sentence is "Open Arms is not badass."

But it's definitely the best version I've heard.

Good point. I was talking about the solo being badass, though. I'm just glad to see them mixing things up for a change.

The liquifying riff by Neal on the intro of Open Arms is wicked!!!

Still waiting for the wails on What I Needed, and the reproduction of TDTWT. So far we have a lot of videos in just a few hours. Imagine what it would be like later when these folks wake up on their Sunday morning and connect to YouTube!!!

Hopefully, the review from Rip would be as much (or more) detailed as Dennis'.

There's no way he can do what he's doing at 41 without an obscene amount of cardio excercise (there was a post months ago about his workout to improve his lung power as mentioned by his manager). The only question is if that involves strength training or body toning. I think I would echo what someone said a while back that he's not the typical rock star (which could be a goof fit for a wholesome feel-good rock group).

the intro is a Neal solo song.. i cant put my finger on it yet.. its a lick he played on

Beyond the Thunder .. ..very very amazing stuff on Open Arms here..

the extra solo on Open Arms is from KISS ME SOFTLY or WITH YOUR LOVE,i think..

You have got to be kidding. Creative? Playing the SAME set list for the 27th year in a row is creative? Come on Dan, they can add these little solos on in their sleep. Being creative is not adding a solo onto a song. Being creative is writing and playing a new song, something that is not dated like this latest cd is, and being creative is playing a different set every night. I won't rain on your parade, because I hate folks who just bitch, but giving Journey the "creative label" is akin to giving Rosie Odonell the "supermodel" title.

Don't kid yourselves...they read this site and they've listened to a lot of the ideas propsed here.

Well, not really. Neal reads here, or used to. Friga doesn't, Ross doesn't and Deen never reads the net. And if they are creative like you say, why the fuck are they reading MR for ideas?

I love you dude, but you need to be called on some of this retarded shit you just said.

Journey may go down with one distinction in music history. Playing it safe more than any other act. I have never seen such a group of men afraid to do something different. Who the Hell wants to play the same shit every night? Unless you're the Beach boys or a tribute band, where is the creative juice? Where is the fire? Real musicians want to be challenged, want to feel something. Playing Lights every night of your career is hardly challenging you. One thing I can say about Schon is he does want something different, but the Queen to his right won't allow it. A shame really, but I don't give a shit about these clowns.

One thing you are right on the money with is your sig.

Snakeryder is without a doubt, the worst fucking band ever.
