What a bunch of fucking garbage. LOL, Journey writing Congress to support the Merger. Yeah, ok. Translated= Azoff or his ruthless sidemen greaseball lawyers, trying to say to Congress this is a good idea.

A few weeks ago, a certain rock star slapped Azoff around like a little bitch and vowed that this merger was a bad deal for the concert goer; and he is 100% correct.

It amazes me how most of you can support the sleaze that emanates out of Irving Azoff. Any band that operates under his umbrella is guilty by association. I am particularly interested in the Eagles take on this, being that they are the most influential of all his acts. I hope to Hell that Landau and Bruce somehow put a stop to this merger..for all of our sake. I would like to think that the latter has more friends in the US Congress than does Azoff.

It won't really affect mid tier bands I wouldn't think. It is really going to affect major draws, who King Azoff knows is going to sell out. When Bruce went on sale, it showed "sold out" in 4 mins. Now I don't care how big a band is, no one is legitimately selling out any venue in 4 minutes. But don't fret rock fans! There is Tickets Now, a sister site of Ticketmaster who will charge you 180 for a 65 dollar seat! So you can still attend!

So, add Live Nation into the mix, and King Azoff will have Monopolistic control of the entire touring industry. What division of music is thriving? Not album sales. Concert revenue. Azoff, all over this like stevew2 on a Webster's dictionary.

Like I said, I pray to God himself, that someone stops this merger. Congress can really stand up for the consumer here. Either that or I hope Azoff gets run over by a grain thrasher.

The first concert I ever went to was in '83. Accept opening for Aldo Nova with BOC headlining. Great show but, the tickets were like $11.50 for upper level seats. We saw Journey (w/Soto - the "sit-in singer") down at Tinley Park a couple of years ago and we paid something $60 each for lawn seats. The covered, assigned seats started at $90 (obstructed view) and went up from there. I think the premium sections were in the $140 - $150 range through Live Nation.

If they want to "reach the fans" so bad, why don't they play some of the smaller venues that they claim to love so much? Reason - $$$, of course. God bless them for trying to capitalize and monopolize wherever they can. They can, and will just keep raising the prices until people stop showing up. On the other hand, you could never meet a more disingenuous group of fuckwads than the Journey crew. Fuck the artistic, starting-in-the-small-venue, love-the-fans, passionate-about-our-music bull-SHIT!!! Their days of writing new songs is over. It's all about cashing in on the old catalog for as long as they can. If Arnel pukes out after another year or two and Jon and Neal still want to go, they'll find another Perry-karaoke singer to blow up.

I know that Journey moved mountains to get him here through a Visa, but as far as being a citizen yet, highly doubt it...although anything is possible, but no he did not sign that petition as far as I can see, just judging by the lines. What difference does his citizenship status make? It is a simple letter, not a petition. He didn't sign because he isn't a full member of the band. He's a hired gun whose job it is to sing and do what he's told. I'm sure he has no say in anything the band does from a management standpoint.

No worries. Just an observation around why he may not have been included in the letter. I do wonder though, how the cover is split between the members. It's probably like KISS does with Singer and Thayer. Gene and Paul get a percentage of the take and the majority of all merchandise sales while Singer and Thayer are straight salary guys. I'll guess that Journey is the same way in that Neal and Jon get more of an equal split while Ross and Deen to a lesser extent. Arnel likely just gets a salary plus dental.
