That fake Azzoff would have milked it and gotten bigger bucks,he is a fuckin con artist just like cornel Tom Parker was with ElvisDeacon wrote:I doubt they would have made much more than Arnel's performances. If anything, they probably would have made less, imho.
In my opinion, Steve Perry isn't up to par compared to his former days as frontman; I'm sure the nostalgia would have worn off eventually.

ya, way too many variables going on to determine the success of a tour with just ticket revenue.

But, as I stated before, the nostalgia would have worn off eventually if Perry wasn't up to par on vocals. Word would spread and ticket sales would decline either way.
I can understand wanting to see Perry for, possibly, one of the last times in his career, but for the sake of ticket sales, Arnel is a better bet. Perry is, simply put, worn out.

What variables? Of that list, no artists on it sold more than I think 3 million records. This is basically touring revenue yes?

I disagree. A Perry fronted Journey would outdraw any other frontman you could put out there. Period. Certainly, people go to concerts to hear their favorite music, but also are connected to the artists that created it. I'm one of the biggest Soto and Arnel fans on this site, but I'd buy 10 tickets with Perry to 1 of anyone else. But that's from a fan that's seen Perry in concert. That may not be the case with the younger generation, and I'll concede, there were a ton of younger fans at the shows I've seen since Perry's departure. I still say though, A Perry fronted Journey would outdraw todays lineup, easily. Don't forget, if Perry was still out front, Smitty would still be behind the kit. As much as I love Castronovo, Smitty is THE SHIT on the drums.

I don't you could get Perry to sign on without keeping Castronovo. Unless of course you piped in the background vocals. Deen would save Steve a lot of straining on choruses. Besides, Neal would never kick Deen out of the band. It's all a moot point anyway. I think Neal is happy with a functioning group of drama-less guys that want to write, record and tour. As big as a Perry-led comeback tour with Journey would be I'm not quite sure Neal would ever agree to it unless Perry was able to commit to a certain amount of shows...and he'll never do that. Fuck, he can't decide whether or not to release a completed album!!!Rick wrote: Don't forget, if Perry was still out front, Smitty would still be behind the kit. You can't be serious? I personally know dozens of people who would go see a Perry-led Journey that wouldn't go see them with anyone else singing for them.
Let's be realistic about this... if The Police would have gone on tour with a new unknown singer, would they have grossed as much as they did with Sting?
You are right Deen would have bailed out Perry even more so than AugeriSaint John wrote:I don't you could get Perry to sign on without keeping Castronovo. Yeah, I was speaking totally hypothetically. They're the best Journey we're going to see ever again, right now.

That would be fucking awesome!

This is a fantasy thread anyway so I may as well use my imagination. And yes, I am high - how did you know?
