Journey at Madison Square Garden?

I have been looking around on old tour schedules from the infinity, departure, evolution, escape, frontiers, and raised on radio tours and could not find one time when they played Madison Square Garden. Is this true??? It just seems very hard to believe that in Journey's prime from 80-87 they not at least once play there. How could one of the best selling bands in the United States never play there??

i believe that is true. we either went tothe meadowlands in jersey or caught them at the coliseum on long island. and i don'tthink they played both those venues on the same tour. in 1983 i saw them at the coliseum and in 1987 at the meadowlands, because they weren't coming to downstate new york.

First & last time I saw the real Journey concert was the Frontiers tour at Nassau Colliseum I think it was May 83 or 84.
Went in my friends Karmen Ghia.
Had to scalp tix
Remember we paid $20 for floor in the back & thought that pricy at the time.
Couldn't really see very much but the experience was like that of a dream.
Joints were being passed around...then
We hanged out in the parking lot til everyone had gone home.
What is this thing with me & parking lots?



Anyway these two guys approached us so we figured we were going to be told to leave.
Turns out they were selling t- shirts.
We talked & they gave us each a shirt free.
It was the white n lavender tie die with the reddish letters.
We all went out for coffee or something I can't remember.

Oooooh won't go into that night but it was surreal.
My girlfriend really hit it off with a guy named Donald who later would become her husband.
They went off to get to know each other & she left me alone with his friend.
We talked & he was a gentleman.
I wonder what became of him?

Journey was really a part of our lives back then.
They sort of feel like part of the "family"

Anyway back to the 21St Century...

Not gonna lie, I am still hoping there is a chance they can play Madison Square Garden (even if it is part of a package tour).

They are on fire these days, and, not sure if anyone noticed, Chicago/Earth, Wind, & Fire are playing there this June. If Journey is on a good bill, I see no reason why they cannot play MSG if Chicago/EWF can in 2009.

I wasn't at this particular show, but saw a bunch of shows on the Frontiers tour. I remember we got complaint mail from upset parents because they weren't happy with Bryan Adams and his potty mouth on stage. I actually saw parents at shows taking their kids out in the lobby while Bryan was on stage. If I recall, he did like to drop lots of f-bombs during his set. Seems pretty tame in comparison to what happens on stage with many artists these days.

It means thats not a very intelligent thing to say. I would like to see you sell 80 million albums. Journey sold out at the Nassau Colliseum all the time, they were one of the few who sold out the JFK stadium in Philadelphia where they would play to crowds of 80-90,000 people. They actually were very popular in the east. They also played the Halleder Stadium in Rochester with Bryan Adams.

When he opened for Journey in '83, the crowd was fairly subdued during his performance, and BA shouted, "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU DALLAS? LET'S ROCK!!!"

The place went nuts and was nuts from that point on. I thought it was great.

its notoriously expensive to play
everything there is union(they even have a chair union)
most bands play there for the name reconition and lose money or make very little.
thats why most will skip the garden and play nassau or meadowlans instead.
