Look at the 1:43 mark. Arnel runs up to Neal, and he points and it looks like he's saying "get over there somewhere and leave me alone!"

I don't think they'd get away with playing all this stuff in the US. Too bad for us. The US audience has the attention span of 6 year olds and so to actually LISTEN to something they might not've heard before would be just too taxing for them.

Hope there IS a DVD of the entire show.

LD- Maybe I missed this being mentioned earlier, but these songs aren't tuned down. Cool.
That's an interesting strategy, tune down for some shows and not for others. Wonder what the deciding factor is there.

Yes, they are! I don't know what everyone else is hearing, but every one of these songs was tuned down. Maybe I'm going deaf, but I am really disappointed by the entire performance.

I may be wrong because I haven't checked these with a guitar, but all these are in the right key. The shows in Japan were definitely 1/2 step lower but these sound correct to me. Since this will be a DVD release I seriously doubt that they would drop the key. Anyone checked these with a guitar?

Maybe you should be disappointed with your ears, and in the way they discern the musical key. :D

Why? Perry left on his own, Augeri doesn't have any sour grapes, and Soto was given a great opportunity. The only thing I'll give you is maybe the way Herbie got rid of Fleischman wasn't the most up and up thing. But what can you do when you have Steve Perry ready to go.

From the Manilla show? The others from the other day were, but I thought these were in tune. My guitar must've been out of tune when I checked SW- though I never tune down a half step for anything. My mistake. I'll check again when I get home.

Thanks. It could just be me, but none of the songs sounded right. I thought it from listening at work, but I listened again at home and heard it the same.

Dumbass, Just cause Augeri doesnt have sour grapes doesnt mean they wernt to blame also for whoreing them selves out so they could make money of that lame ass def Lep tour. Telling us Jeff was the real deal and publicly announcing he is the new permenet lead singer for Journey, then dumping him,and not even have the balls to tell him face to face,is that not wrong? You are total ass kissing retard .We had this discussion before, all the koodlaid and Snickers bars are fuckin up your pea sized brain. Let me see if I can go down to your level and try to make understand. It would be like someone given you a new Malibu{not the dung heap you now own}its half paid for. You get to drive it, take care of it, and pay the other have off. Then you go into the dollar store and do your fuckin shoppin for the week,The people that gave it to you comes back takes back, and doesnt even tell you they took it,you find out from some queer where you work that they took it back. Does that make any sense to you dickless?

Kevin Shirley has updated his blog with a brief mention about the Journey concert.

"Hi - back from Manilla and from a fantastic outdoor Journey show where [they] played to about 30,000. And now I'll get to check these recordings back and see what we can do."

i checked they are in "regular" tuning. plus all of you who have heard these songs for years SHOULD be able to tell if its tuned down as soon as you hear it. half step down has a totally different sound/feeling

I took that with a grain of salt. He chose to take the high road and not make it an issue. I'm sure he's not happy with what went down. He's also legally bound to shut the piehole! I think he's a great guy, and it's just sad what happened. I blame all involved, right down to the musicians. It was a bad decision, and they all knew.

All the Arnel haters and Perry/Augeri/JSS lovers at this point will say "No, you're not the only one!"
;)

I honestly didn't notice. I did on the Japanese shows but thought they were not tuned down till I had a guitar in hand, then it was obvious. Arnel's voice (as I go back to hear them) was definitely deeper on them. I think I just didn't expect it, so I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I think this Manilla show is a way strong performance by the band, the best I've heard since the live show I saw and the Vegas DVD.
