The poll question and the topic question are separate issues... does it lack integrity and would one buy it don't necessarily correlate. Look how many people bought Revelation.

I'd buy it, sure. Does it lack integrity? I don't know... a lot of people have done this kind of thing... don't see anything wrong with it.

I don't think doing a duet CD necessarily lacks intregrity. They certainly can be very successful, but I've never been a big fan of duet CDs. Most of the time, the singers never even see one another and the singers may record their parts in completely different studios. Not to mention that there have been some really really bad combinations. Anyone remember Frank Sinatra and Bono or Chrissie Hynde? How about Willie Nelson and Julio Iglesias? :? :? :? Not so good.

This loon would prefer pure unadulterated Steve Perry with maybe one duet on the CD. :D

It would depend on who he was singing with and we all know he would make a good decision.

An occasional duet can sound really cool, but to do a whole CD full of them, HELL NO! That would appear way too lame. :P

I'd hate to see Perry put out a duet album. I love his voice too much to just settle for anything. Fully solo.

But I don't think it would be a lack of integrity. Just a stupid decision when no one really gives a fuck about listening him sing with another person.

Get what?

And what I meant with, as with the David Pack collaboration, I'd wager most of us were interested in listening to Perry and not him.

Not me! I thought Perry's voice sounded like it went through some sort of computer or Pro Tooler. It sounded computerized. Pack sounded much better and the sound seemed genuine and not altered to death.

Didn't say everyone liked it. Said that was probably what they were interested in hearing.

Yeah, you're right. I did initially check it out to see how Perry sounded. Couldn't really draw a conclusion since it sounded so unnatural.

I thought he sounded decent. Especially the "shades of forever" lyric, though I recognize it was synthesized. But so was the line "and the neon lights protect your life" in YBW and it was my favorite part of the song. Arnel couldn't quite capture that during the synthesized segment of "Wildest Dreams" after the solo.

Exactly why I got the song. And yes, I'd buy a cd of Perry duets......cuz honestly, I'd buy any new vocals of his. :) Saying that, as much as I love a great duet when done by voices that compliment each other, I would rather only see 1 or 2 on a cd than a cd full of them........by any of my faves.
