Cain has a "podcast" up on his website (www.jonathancain.com) that was recorded right after the show in Manilla. He says there were over 20,000 fans there, and the cameras that were used to shoot the DVD have 4 times the clarity of HD cameras. He also said the director already looked at the film and is very happy with how it turned out. Cain mentioned that they will be starting the US tour at Rock Fest in Cadott, WI in July.

People keep thinking there was 70k there in Manila with out realizing the stadium was configured to be cut in two. I'm glad Cain clarified that.
The last show Journey did in front of 70k+ was probably at the end of the Frontiers Tour. I know there was over 80k at JFK in Philly when I saw them on that tour.

Even if the cameras had the clarity 4 times HD cams(which is not true) you'd still need a TV that could show the clarity of HD x 4 .
No words on the release date though , so maybe by the time it comes out, there will be TVs that can give us the FullFullFullFull HD

Great work was done on this Journey concert by the entire team! It was a pleasure to work with them as a DP and one of the stage front shoulder held cameramen. This was truly a "no jerks" crew - everyone really knew their craft, was tenacious in figuring out the production needs, and had a good sense of humor!

I've worked with a lot of crews in my career - but I have to say this was one of my very favorite crews! Everyone, the EP (Dan Barnett), director (Eli Tishberg), and all other crew are way cool people who have a passion for their craft - and it showed.

The Journey management watching the show over the director's shoulder in video village kept saying how stunned they were with the quality of footage from the RED cameras - and how they were impressed with the professionalism of the crew. Beyond recording each camera to RED Drives, we also piped a hardlined 720p feed from each camera into the control room to be switched live to the giant iMag screen, on the stage behind the band - eye candy for the 35,000 stoked fans. Very cool I'd say...

Oli Laperal, who started this thread, is a great guy who owns an unbelievably well stocked film & TV production equipment company in Manila, RSVP Films. His staff is very professional, and really know their work well - a pleasure to work with for sure. I recommend RSVP Films highly for anyone looking for production crew and equipment in Asia.

I helped the DIT guys backup and verify the footage for the concert - all operators serious cranked out killer footage. We shot in 4k HD - and the footage is simply stunning!

My wife Pam was the staff stills photographer. With her Canon 5D she nailed some seriously cool shots of the pre-production, Journey performing, and our crew at work. I'll be writing a magazine article about the production, and her pics will really enhance it. She did 35mm stills for Ketch's Las Vegas production and did really well there too.

The crew on this production was from Florida, New York, California, and the Philippines - great diversity.

Journey absolutely rocked the place! I've always liked their music. It was really cool to shoot them with RED. The energy of their set was unreal! Everything came together for a truly surreal experience. I've been involved with TV and film production of many bands over the years (3 Dog Night, War, Common Sense, Burning Spear, and many others), but I have to say this is now my new favorite music production I've been involved with.

I believe the DVD of this concert will start selling sometime later this year. Check it out!

Some gigs you remember for a long time - and this was definitely on of those - and me and Pam were way stoked to be a part of it. We return from Manila to California tomorrow, but we can't wait to return to the Philippines sometime to do some more production. The Filipinos are genuinely friendly...

Thanks for posting, but it still doesnt make sense as far as the 4k HD.
Releasing the whole thing on a DVD completely defeats the purpose of using HD cams period. And even if the cam is 4k HD and they do decide to release the show on Bluray too, we all know the max any Bluray-player(and TV) on the market can handle is Full HD 1080p.

It'd be cool if Journey released this to theatres. Fathom Events does something like this where they bring different shows into movie theatres. They did ones with Queen and Paul Rodgers, Kiss, Linkin Park, Rod, Greenday, and then like Metropolitan Opera shows.

Few that comes to mind who recorded and released show in Full HD would be Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Shakira, Paramore and Incubus.

It's for the future. Compare it to if they had HD cameras in Houston in '81. Televisions couldn't display the full resolution back then, but think of how that show would look now.
