His accomplishments (on and off the screen) are just as impressive as Richardson's was..including Tony awards, and actually had a long running stint on TV with the West Wing. I guess I just don't get it.

Well, also not trying to sound insensitve, but Silver had pretty much become a B list actor. I think he was a tremendous talent, but his "star" had fallen quite a bit.
Natasha was in every way an a-lister, married to an a-lister. Either way, they are both tragic losses to the film and theatre community.

Well I have no idea what type of box office draw either was, on stage or film. But I know that I literally had to look her up on IMDB when I saw it on TV as to who she was, and what roles she played. I just think the fascination is strange. But if it brings out the better good of taking care of yourself when you may have a head injury/concussion, I can deal with the hype.

I agree to a point. I think it should probably be mandatory (for both) until something like age 25. Then it's your choice. Gotta get the kids grown up first.

Yup. Let natural selection do its thing.

If you are in a car alone with no seatbelt, good for you on your "choice" but when you ride with others in the car without a seatbelt you become a deadly projectile to others. I think other people should get to have a choice to live.

Okay, so if un-seatbelted occupants are projectiles, why then aren't seatbelts required for ALL occupants in the car?

Pardon my insensitiveness, but Natasha was hardly an A-lister. Just looked at her career at IMBD.com....Paltry compared to her husband's. Liam is an A-lister.....

The point here is we live in a country with access to safety equipment & good medical care
& it is a right & a privilege to make use of it.
Now this woman had access to good health care & she died because she felt she wasn't injured enough to seek medical care.
Seems that in about that hour she got the headache it was already becoming too late. It doesn't take long for the pressure building up to destroy alot of brain tissue. So maybe if they had not waited that hour they might have been able to save her life. Just one hour so there really wasn't much time. A sad accident in which maybe only a helmet might have made the difference between life & death.
That is a sad waste of her life & sorrow for her loved ones.
I can't see why any of us are taking the time to waste our breath arguing whether or not this woman was accomplished enough to deserve this attention when we really should be searching into our own lives & what we want from our own existance.
Bottom line is mankind still has a strong urge for survival & I would hope that we would be smart enough to try to utilize every means available that the 21ST Century has gifted us with to preserve this gift we call life.
I fell off a balcony 10 feet this past summer. I had no health care but since I couldn't really respond to commands the ambulance or maybe it was the Fire Dept as I don't remember had to take me to the hospital.
Turns out I was lucky & had no detectable injuries but now I am stuck with in excess of $30,000 of hospital bills.
No way I can pay it even in installments as I am on a low fixed income but I have to deal with it & perhaps file banktruptcy.
It's a real hardship for me now but all in all I guess my life is worth the $30K.
I would however like to sue the ambulance medics who were shaking me like a ragdoll while it was quite likely that I could have had back or head trauma. Still it was like I was out of my body looking down not able to talk.
Pointless though as they never sent me a bill & I can't prove they injured me but they were wrong & I remember thinking in the hospital
that those morons messed me up so much that they couldn't put me back together. I really thought my back was broken. Still they did take me to the best hospital & I don;t know why but I am lucky to have been treated at Cedar Sinai.
They called me Romeo & later my employer said that they gave me an alias Romeo Trauma to protect me so that no one would know who I was as they were concerned I was a victim of a crime. They must have really sedated me as I lost a few days. It was dark & like time had stopped.
Ouch some of it is coming back to me.
I remember darkness & my entire body just feeling deep cold aches.
Sorry this is not about me but it's bringing back memories.
Anyway,
The lesson is that it is better to learn from someone elses mistake & try to prevent them before they become our own.
I guess my wrestle with mortality has left me feeling very blessed!!!!
Luckliy for me I have lots of thick hair & it has cushioned many a fall...
Arkansas wrote:StevePerryHair wrote:...they SHOULD BE, but people like you fight those laws. ...
They should be? I don't know of any law telling us that back seat passengers should be restrained. I'd bet though that if there were enough conclusive studies on this & enough money-slinging lobby'rs, then the politicians & insurance companies would be seaking further control of all drivers/vehicles.
Btw, 'people like you' don't fight any laws. We just ignore them because they infringe on our civil liberties. But if you think 'people like you' should control us, then 'people like you' should be fighting the existing laws even harder...to control us further. Keep clamping down because 'people like you' feel the need to tell everyone how to live. Soon, cars/vehicles will be outlawed because those things are the very source of our deaths. Forget seatbelts. Just get rid of the cars. Problem solved, no?

Not judging at all- merely responding to someones question of why her death recieved more press than Ron Silver's.
