Don't begrudge me the one gift I have, Deacon. I was an English major. The only other thing I can do well is make armpit farting noises. The only thesaurus I own is the rapidly degenrating lump of misfiring cells in the hollowed-out cavity where my brain once resided.

Anyway, Stu, don't get me started on hypocrites like Dodd and Frank. While I agree with the principles of the Democratic party, I hardly suggest many are not obsolescent.

And yet...Barney Frank actually got something right this week...he said the stockholders of AIG (That's us) should get the bonuses back via a lawsuit showing that the individuals who recieved them had abbrogated their fiduciary responsibility to AIG and in doing so lost all rights to those bonuses...in short they breached their contracts and in doing lost the right to any claim arising there from. What the Dems are trying to do now is absolutely unconstitutional. (Article 1 Section 9 No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed)

Now Dodd...well...I hope he gets unseated...and I don't care if it is a Rep or a Dem...either way would be fine...5 terms in the senate is enough...that is 30 years at the end of this one...more than enough time.

We shouldn't have professional politicians...the Founding Fathers were right about that.

You put people like that in power and in the end all they care about is the power.

The vision of the armpit farting noises is amusing though!

So that explains what you do outside of these forums. Trying to master the old armpit farting maneuver? It takes a particular level of skill, dedication, and scholarly example. Only the most enlightened of humans can achieve such success.

My parents and my step-parents all graduated cum laude from Julliard in the 60's and 70's.

I went to UConn and majored in English and Theory, barely managing a 3.0 GPA.

Superlative talent always skips a generation.

Any questions?

I've told you. Computers are like people for me. I only know nothing really about them or how to make them better; just how to use them and turn them on.

Eh, for doing what exactly?
Even his most controversial decision (closing Gitmo) had support from righties like Condoleeza and Bob Gates.
As for Obama's “radical” approach to fixing the economy, well, he's balked at the idea of nationalizing the banks.
Which, by my calculation, puts him somewhere to the right of uber-capitalist Alan Greenspan.

Yes, TNC lets annoying things like "facts" and "truth" taint his journalistic integrity.

I'm beginning to suffer from compassion fatigue...for instance, Barb, your qualifier that Obama is "abysmal" cannot be based in actual fact, since there will be no way of knowing how his policies impact the economy, the nation, and the world until enough time passes to give us a sense of perspective. Keep in mind that his policies are similar to those the rest of the world is advocating - tried and tested, and proven, methods for stopping recessions.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will call for increased oversight of executive pay at all banks, Wall Street firms and possibly other companies as part of a sweeping plan to overhaul financial regulation, government officials said.

The outlines of the plan are expected to be unveiled this week in preparation for President Obama’s first foreign summit meeting in early April.

Increasing oversight of executive pay has been under consideration for some time, but the decision was made in recent days as public fury over bonuses has spilled into the regulatory effort.

This is absurd! Unless the bank, Wall Street firm or other company has taken federal dollars, the government has no damn business deciding who gets paid what! Who the fuck does Obama think he is? King?

We are officially no longer living in a Capitalist nation. I can't wait to see how the market responds on Monday!

Barb, at the risk of getting flamed, Rush Limbaugh has argued for years that if we can have minimum wages, we can also have maximum wages. Looks like we may be headed in that direction.

I warned everyone on that long Presidential Election Thread numerous times, of Obamas ties to the Democratic Socialist Party of America.

Who's next? Hollywood actors? Athletes? They also make exorbitant amounts of money. What's going to happen when the top 1% of wage earners in this country say "fuck this!", leave, and take their money with them? That 1% pays FORTY PERCENT OF ALL FEDERAL INCOME TAX!! Then where is King Obama going to find money? Oh, I know... he will have NO CHOICE but to raise taxes on every single person working. Have fun, America.... you asked for it!

Not if they lay their facts, their sources, or better still, their logic on the table. Like Stu, for example.

You were led around by the nose during the election, spreading pernicious shit such as “Except that [Obama] doesn't much like our constitution... “
What’s to make anyone believe you were suddenly endowed with Cylon free will?
You should just go ahead and add “I hope he fails” as your new sig.
Kinda like the retarded “Sarah!” one you had before Palin outed herself as an Elly May Clampett white trash whore.
We know that’s how you feel anyway.

Who cares?
You think the Dow responded positively as FDR implemented the alphabet soup of reform/regulatory agencies (SEC, FDIC, etc) that helped build this country?
You people are living in fantasy land.
This crisis calls for nothing short of a full systemic overhaul.

Hey, Einstein.... Obama's actions are not consistent with being a big fan of our Constitution, now are they? I don't have to hope he fails... he IS failing and as a result, so will the United States. I'm glad to see how delighted you are by it all, though.

Who cares? I fucking care! Millions of Americans care. I've been workiing at the same company for 16 years putting money into my 401K... it's been depleted by more than 50%. It's a lot of money that I could have just lit on fire for all the good it's going to do me when I retire.
