Need some help with my songs here...

Postby G.I.Jim » Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:07 am

Hey everyone,

I'm just curious to find out which of my songs people like the most. I'm asking for input from you on which direction to go with my future songs. Please let me know which of our songs you like best 1st. Second, if you don't mind...let me know the style of songs you think would compliment what we already have. If you have an example of "Something like Separate Ways", or something like that, it'd be cool. Just to give me a direction of what you think we'd be able to pull off.

I'll be spending quite a bit of songwriting time in the next couple of weeks, and just figured it'd be good to get some input. I'll be taking down "Angel" tonight, and replacing it with "Eye Of The Storm" so that it can be included with the other songs.

If you will, pick you favorite song. It'll help me see what people might want to hear. Thanks for your time and input!

Awesome, thanks! I also wanted to include "Eye Of The Storm", but I can only post 6 songs at a time. :( I thought I added "I'm Not Ready" in the poll, but I forgot to hit the damn button to add it! I think I'll add "Eye Of The Storm", and if you want to vote for it, you'll just have to type it in here if you don't mind. Thanks!

Thank you. "It's All Over Now" is the first song Alex collaberated with me on lyric-wise. I think he had some great ideas. "Sooner Or Later" is another song he and I both worked on with the lyrics. We have a few others in the works, but I haven't copywritten them yet, so it'll be a little while before I post them.

I also just uploaded "Eye Of The Storm", but it's not in the poll. If that's your favorite...please let me know on here. Thanks again!

Thank you...now we have a 4 way tie!   I really like the groove of that song. I was just jaming out to "Cold As Ice" one day, and started playing around with changing it up. I think it turned it out pretty cool.

Always liked "Cold As Ice"...maybe that's the vibe I picked up on. After another listen, it's still my favorite.

Aw man, don't make me pick! It changes every day! Why limit yourself to one style or genre?
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Brutal reality.
I devoted 60 sec to each song for three plays each as you got to capture a listener by then or its all over.
First comment is that all your songs have a very similar vein & are hard to distinguish.
You might want to work on that.

My soul called out for "It's All Over" although I think Alex could have done better on the vocals.

Sooner or Later & Eye of the Storm have great intro;s but seem to pale out....

Anyway as I said they all sound similar but my heart goes out to...

It's All Over

8)

Thanks for the compliment and the feedback! I'm definitely someone who has a lot of similar songs. :D I'm definitely going to try to write some more upbeat songs. I taking a weeks leave during spring break, and when I'm not out on my boat...I'll be at home trying to get some new songs down.

I have 83 days of leave saved up, so I'll be taking a LOT of time off this spring. Landscaping, fishing, mountain biking and songwriting are going to be taking up a lot of my time!

I'd add some high energy, uptempo rockers like Harms Way, etc.

Regardless this will be a classy record, I'd say.

Looks like Melinda, is the one. However, I liked a lot of your older stuff as well. Are you going to do anything with those songs?

Thank you, and it looks like you're right. I was hoping for a lot bigger group of votes to get a wider feel of opinions, but oh well. Which older songs are you referring to? Do you remember them? I sometimes put up "I'm Not Ready", but I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about. Just let me know.

I don't remember. You had a group up before Losing you. They were short clips.

Oh...you're probably thinking of "Long Night", and "If You Want". I wrote "Long Night" years ago, and still like it. I probably won't use it for this project though...maybe a follow-up album if I'm lucky! :D I think "If You Want" is a little too mellow for the album. I don't know...we may use it. I've also had a few instrumental clips posted up there that I may actually work into vocal songs...guess we'll see. Thanks for checking them out though!

You know, I think one I really liked was an instrumental. Kind of a rocker. Wish I remembered the name. Anyway, all good stuff dude, keep it up!

Thanks! If you're thinking of the one I think you are, it had a "Chain Reaction" feel to it. That's one that I'm definitely going to finish. Might work on that one in the next week or two.
