Journey on The Valley Isle...

Postby Maui Tom » Tue Mar 24, 2009 7:12 pm

Bear with me...a tad buzzed...and still walking on air...random thoughts...

Place was packed.....AP was on fire....haven't seen him since the PH Vegas show and man...he just exudes such a positive vibe...the crowd ate him up....god love him.

Lots of Revelation...Neal was on fire....I can listen to that guy play anything...anytime...the extended versions of some of the DD is truly inspired.....they are really feeling it right now...

If I had a dollar for every person who said of AP..."he's so TINY"...I'd retire tomorrow...

encore of...LTS...BGTY AND Who's Crying Now was awesome...

Deeno with another killer Mother Father....he looked exhausted at the m&g but as usual was VERY cool....

Edge Of The Blade was awesome...(I told you it would be random thoughts) :) ..WDILYL was stellar too...my fav Revelation tune...though Wildest Dream kicked ass too...

Neal was also totally accommodating...they do a million of these but he was totally humble and gracious...

I had my pic taken with AP...I called him knellsky....:)

Just a great Monday night.....sorry this is lame but...I was too busy rocking out to remember shit...

Thanks, Maui Tom. Sounds like another great concert. :D

Did they do What I Needed at the concert? That clip in Manila looked amazing sung live by Arnel, and Neal at the end really brought that song to another level.

I have to agree. WIN was unexpectedly the best tune for me in the Manila concert (judging from the poor YouTube quality). I had so much high expectation for TDTWT but there was something wrong with it I couldn't quite figure out. Hope it comes out better on the DVD.

"Wildest Dreams", live, kicks a great deal of ass.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

It was in their set recently...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

So it looks like TDTWT is gone again from the setlist. I personally think it was the worse sounding out of all the tracks from the Manila gig, just not sure what went wrong with it.

I don't know either. I listened to the CD and compared it as best I could, not being a musician. Deen's vocals sounded too loud backing Arnel or maybe too high, and it wasn't that way on the CD. Kind of distracting in concert on that one video I saw on here. It sounded much better on other videos from Manila posted on YouTube where the sound wasn't as good and I couldn't hear the background vocals as much. I expected that song to be spectacular and it wasn't. Maybe they just need to work on that more for a live performance. I hope to see it again in the summer tour.

In addition to being too loud, Deen's vocals on TDTWT also sounded out of sync with Arnel's. It could be sound latency issues (similar to 2 speakers out of phase) from the distance of whoever recorded that video.

I'm sure Deen's microphone has its own channel when they recorded it so they should be able to fix that on the DVD. Heck, Deen can sing it again in the studio.

You know I agree. That was my favorite revelation tune and second was what I needed and all thou WIN was awesome, TDTWT just did not sound right but I couldn't figure out why.

Actually, I think all the rehearsal time in Manila did a lot of good. They finally got everyone trained. Seems last year they kind of hit the ground running all the way thru the end of the USA summer tour, then had no time together until Super Bowl, but fortunately were able to do quite a bit of work before the Japan gigs this year.
