Toto song I've never heard before!

Postby G.I.Jim » Tue Mar 24, 2009 2:13 pm

I thought I'd heard just about every song Toto has ever sung, but somehow I've missed one of the coolest ballads I've ever heard! Some of you may have heard this before, but it's just a very cool song that you have to check out if you haven't heard it. I hope you like it. Lukather is the freaking MAN.

Ahh yes - the Dune Theme re-write from KOD.

I nearly shit a gold egg when I saw this on the pseudo version of 'spanish MTV' when browsing the cable channels around when the single was released...(toto was just as difficult to find on US radio and TV in '92 as they are today)

Luke talked about this video at some point, said something to the effect of the video shoot being 'freezing cold'

I'm obviously missing some serious albums here, because I keep finding songs I haven't heard!

Here's "Two Hearts". I don't know what album it's from...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lggjY3vj ... re=related

Here's a cool Lukather song I'd never heard before too. Sounds very cool, and almost have a Giant sound to it....very cool! :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1UjEqEz ... re=related

Here's one of my favorite ballads of all time. "I Will Remember You". Don't know why this wasn't a HUGE hit? :? Hope you enjoy it. I can't ever get enough of this type of music.

Only You and Two Hearts have always been two of my favorite Toto songs. They have a ton of melodic stuff that never got any air play, or very little. Also a big fan of IWRY. Those last few Toto discs had some hidden gems on them.

Also Jim..this is another of my favorites. Luke's guitar guitar work is so understated, but it makes the tune.

Can anyone imagine this song playing in background of Top Gun..?

Well, this song was originally written for the movie...

I just stumbled on a Mike Porcaro video where he's in the studio playing bass, then he's playing some great piano! I never knew he played piano? That's GOT to be the most talented family (musically) that ever walked the face of the earth! I've never seen any three brothers that were as musical gifted as these guys. Just amazing...

That's interesting about Diane Warren...have you all heard the Luke solo album demos? Some 'interesting' songs on there, a totally different vibe.

Lukather, his 1st album, was filled with cameo's by some of LA's finest blue chips, Richard Marx, Eddie Van Halen, Jan Hammer, Steve Stevens, Diane Warren, Jeff Porcaro, Dave Paich (oh, Dave also plays the organ on LBOMH), Carlos Vega, Lenny Castro, Mike Landau, Randy Goodrum, etc...

Huh..??? Luke's solo album demo's..? No, I don't believe I have...have you..?

There's a song called 'If You Break my heart' and 'Twisted' that are really good...Then there's a mediocre duet with an unknown female, a ballad called ' Looking for somebody like you' then there's a demo of Anna and Second Chance..

pm me if interested and I'll see what I can do - cheers
