Journey song I wanna hear live and is underrated...

Postby brywool » Thu Mar 26, 2009 8:10 am

I wanna hear "Self Defense" live.
I LOVE this song. I think it rocks.
Loved it on Neal's solo album and Generations.
Way cool.

So there. Now, go back to what you were doing.

Throw "Better Together" in there too. Both songs kick ass.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I heard Self Defense in November 05. It was pretty good. I like that song.

Myself, I'd love to hear Higher Place or the full People and Places

The guitar and drums in Self Defense kick ass.
Always loved that lick.

November 05... hmm, I might have a boot of it. I will need to look.

I loved this until I heard the live in Japan version. It must've been before they were done recording Escape or something and Perry kinda went overboard with the headvoice notes in that song. I love it on the album, but that Japanese one just kinda took the wind out of it's sails for me.

Eat a dick, those are both great songs. Party's Over is a GREAT call though. I get a '50s feel from that song for some reason.

Unless I'm talking out of my ass... the show I'm thinking of was at Canton, OH around November 21 or 22, right before Thanksgiving. I was sick as a dog but still went to the show. I swear Neal played it in the middle of the Star Spangled Banner/Voodoo Chile thing he was doin on that tour.

"If He Should Break Your Heart" or "Signs of Life."

Brywool, I'm pretty sure there's a Youtube video of Neal performing "In Self Defense" in '05.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

I like "Lay It Down", but "City of the Angels" is one of the shittiest songs they've ever produced, in my honest opinion. "Lovin' You Is Easy" is much better.

I just was never into CotA. Nice Perry vocals, of course, but I didn't feel like the band had a chance to jam with him. "Lovin' You Is Easy" (particularly the jam session at the end of the live version) was excellent.
