Journey Looking Forward: Best Case Scenario

Voted Worlds #1 Most Loonatic Fanbase

Motley Crue has that new fanbase becuase of their touring partners. Cruefest pairs them up with younger "hipper" bands in the rock market. Something "we' argued for Journey to do for many of the Augeri years.

You know, I never paused to consider how Augeri was dismissed. Arguably worse, since he had eight years or so with the band.

Well, to me, the ending was bad b/c of tapegate, but, honestly, singing that catalogue of music more than five years at his age was probably a bad idea. His voice wasn't as powerful and it took its toll. I love it when he sings on Arrival more in his own style. So contrary to what others think, I believe it's because Neal is a really good guy and loyal and they kept Steve Augeri on with the band longer than they should have because he had been with them so long, even though he couldn't handle the catalogue anymore, and then used poor judgment at the end re the tapes to do the tour and Steve Augeri went along with it.

So true. Neal and Jon are thankful for the success they're having. They don't expect it to be like it was in the hayday with Perry in the '80s. They have great energy right now. Neal is on fire playing. Arnel sounds great. They're happy with where they're at at. I doubt they have unrealistic expectations, but they are still successful and talented as hell. 8)

That stuffy English rule is much-debated, if not altogether discarded in present day. It's the stuff of dusty grammar tomes that give 14-year-old freshman English students nightmares.

lol...another thread for lame motherfuckers to try and trivialize what Journey has done over the past 1+ year. The checklist used to look something like this:

-They'll never survive after getting rid of Soto...WRONG

-They'll never release new music...WRONG

-They'll never release a DVD with Arnel...WRONG

-They'll never tour successfully again...WRONG

-They'll never see another album chart again...WRONG

So here we are a year later with these guys firing on all cylinders, criss-crossing the globe and there are still dumb motherfuckers willing to debate whether or not they've been successful? This is irrefutable. The ticket sales, the albums sold and the million plus people played in front of are all that matters. And I don't give a fuck what the Journey corporation does with old Journey songs. Re-record them, sell them, put them in a time capsule and have the Octomom's kids jam 'em in their asses when they're 60. I don't fucking care, but for the love of consensual sodomy, please quit boring us by rehashing the topic of the "re-records." If they're cherished in their original form by you, the way they are by me, then nothing can change that. The more people bitch and bring it up the more I tend to believe that, like me, they realize Arnel smokes on a few songs (gasp) better than Nostrildamus. I swear to Christ, I hope they re-record one of them shitty albums like Infinity and/or Departure and add it in with the next CD/DVD combo just to elicit a response out of the fucking losers that can't seem to let it go. Fuck it, re-record every Journey song ever.

I haven't lol'd like this in a while. I agree with most of it.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

IMHO Journey is a nostalgia act now.....Good to go see, have a couple of beers, hang with friends. In other words, a good excuse to get hammered with friends. Other than that they bring NOTHING to the table. They are music's equivalent of that sports star that has stayed in the game too long. Think Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, Jerry Rice.....Journey is nothing but a longevity act now. An accident you stare at while you drive by, unable to keep from looking.....always waiting for the next chapter of drama....

Yeah, they lost all their musical talent over the years. They sound like shit and out of sync. The drummer can't keep time. The lead guitarist misses half the notes and looks like he's gonna keel over from old age. The bassist is as old as my dad and who the hell is that guy on keyboards? That lead singer, man, jumpin all over the place and singing those really high notes...and the damn audiance dancing, yelling and screaming. What's up with all that crap anyways?

A nostalgia act is when you go to the state fair and on your way back from the goat barn you just happen to catch Mel Tillis singing. LOL
