OT: Chickenfoot kicks ass

As far as Soul Sirkus goes I'm not sure I've ever heard a band with such little chemistry and such shitty music. They were absolutely terrible. Neal loves playing in Journey. Of this I'm positive.

I can think of a few rea$on$ why Neal $chon would take Journey'$ mu$ic to the end$ of the earth.

I find it hard to believe that after travel expenses, lodging and hauling equipment thousands and thousands of miles, that it's really that much of a payout. They could play an extra 2 or 3 gigs in their backyard of California and make much more $$$.

Well that just goes to show that everyone doesn't have the same taste. I think Soul SirkUS is some of the coolest shit I ever heard. I don't like every single song, but most of it was totally kick ass. I think JSS & Neal had pretty good chemistry at the time but obviously have zero today. Less than zero if that's even possible.

About the only thing I'm concerned about is if these are the 2 best songs on the album and the rest is a bunch of fluffy filler pieces. But can you imagine if these are the weakest songs on the album? Holy crap that would rock! :shock:

The music world has been in dire need for quite some time for rockin' stuff like this. To offset the Britney Spears/American Idol noise that's going on now.

For what it's worth, Soul SirkUS live was a good show and they did have chemistry; not sure why people are saying that. You could tell Neal was having fun live during that show. I think he would ditch Journey if he could, but he'd have to get off the cash cow which makes NO sense.

I've never seen Sammy, VH, Satriani, or the RHCP live (well, sans Chad at the Buddy Rich tribute show last October in NYC) or had the desire, but I'd see Chickenfoot live. I agree it's one of those "sum of all parts is better" kinds of things. The thing about Satriani is that while he's got chops, he doesn't need to flash them every ten seconds and he can play for the song.

Of the two, "Soap on a Rope" is more "commercial" and may have even been a hit back in the day. "Down the Drain" is more Soul SirkUS-esque.

I don't see this selling a shitload, but then again, I could be wrong.

It will be nice to see Sammy and Mikey rocking with a killer guitarist apart from the onstage hostility that developed between them and Eddie during the 2004 Van Halen tour. I am sure the onstage energy will be 200%.
