Not really. Journey is touring the world, he's got a fox by his side, he's sober and Journey's future is the brightest it's been in over 20 years. If Neal can pull some strings maybe Chickenfoot can open for Journey in the future and he could be a guest on a few songs.

I don't think Journey music is what Neal's about anymore, and hasn't been for sometime.
Nothing would make him happier than never having to play the opening licks to 'Open Arms' again.
If SoulSirkus would've struck commercial lightning, Neal would've left the county fair grandstand and never looked back.
Neal seems quite happy in Journey and that is evidenced by the the fact that he's willing to take their music to all ends of the earth. A non-interested person wouldn't travel to China to play in front of 8,000 people.

As far as Soul Sirkus goes I'm not sure I've ever heard a band with such little chemistry and such shitty music. They were absolutely terrible. Neal loves playing in Journey. Of this I'm positive.

I can think of a few rea$on$ why Neal $chon would take Journey'$ mu$ic to the end$ of the earth.

I find it hard to believe that after travel expenses, lodging and hauling equipment thousands and thousands of miles, that it's really that much of a payout. They could play an extra 2 or 3 gigs in their backyard of California and make much more $$$.

Well that just goes to show that everyone doesn't have the same taste. I think Soul SirkUS is some of the coolest shit I ever heard. I don't like every single song, but most of it was totally kick ass. I think JSS & Neal had pretty good chemistry at the time but obviously have zero today. Less than zero if that's even possible. :?

About the only thing I'm concerned about is if these are the 2 best songs on the album and the rest is a bunch of fluffy filler pieces. But can you imagine if these are the weakest songs on the album? Holy crap that would rock!

The music world has been in dire need for quite some time for rockin' stuff like this. To offset the Britney Spears/American Idol noise that's going on now.

For what it's worth, Soul SirkUS live was a good show and they did have chemistry; not sure why people are saying that. You could tell Neal was having fun live during that show. I think he would ditch Journey if he could, but he'd have to get off the cash cow which makes NO sense.

I've never seen Sammy, VH, Satriani, or the RHCP live (well, sans Chad at the Buddy Rich tribute show last October in NYC) or had the desire, but I'd see Chickenfoot live. I agree it's one of those "sum of all parts is better" kinds of things. The thing about Satriani is that while he's got chops, he doesn't need to flash them every ten seconds and he can play for the song.

Of the two, "Soap on a Rope" is more "commercial" and may have even been a hit back in the day. "Down the Drain" is more Soul SirkUS-esque.

I don't see this selling a shitload, but then again, I could be wrong.

Michael Anthony just posted something about the first Chickenfoot gig on his blog:

http://madanthonyblog.blogspot.com

It was a private show for Best Buy Corp. employees only.

I'm getting psyched about this. Just think of the diversity of music we may hear on this tour:

Montrose
Sammy Hagar
Van Halen
Satriani
The Wabos

They will probably throw in a few covers by Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and maybe even a Colplay tune (LOL - Satch is suing them for taking his song). Mikey may even sing a DLR/VH song or two.

It will be nice to see Sammy and Mikey rocking with a killer guitarist apart from the onstage hostility that developed between them and Eddie during the 2004 Van Halen tour. I am sure the onstage energy will be 200%.

Best Buy? That's interesting...are they doing an exclusive CD release through BB?

Either that or Best Buy is sponsoring the tour, which would mean presale ticket access for Best Buy Rewards Club members.

These guys are continuing where PlanetUs left off, while Neal's still stuck in the same county fair nostalgia timeloop.
No matter what success is attained with modern Journey, does anyone truly doubt he'd rather cut loose and tequila it up with Sammy?
As a fan, I think I'd rather see him do that too.

I think you're probably right. I would prefer him to rock out more as well. Really wish Soul SirkUS would have worked out.

yeah, i wish neal would branch out a bit more than he's doing now. i LOVED HSAS & soul sirkUS.

Much agreement regarding HSAS...

BTW, any idea where I could find the video of their live performance?

send me a PM and i will send you a site were you can pick it up.
the full show with the more rockin sonds included.

Well at least Neal got paid from Soul Sirkus (even if the rest of the band didn't). :x

I'll betcha even if Chickenfoot hits rough times Hagar will take care of his boyz.
He seems like a class act (& a good businessman!)

Schon lost over $300,000 and carted everyone around on his tour bus on his dime. Soto popped in one day and said "Yeah, but Neal took all the CD sales." Ok...$15 X 50 copies sold. Yeah, he really recouped his time and monetary losses. Get the fuck out of here with your bullshit. Soul Sirkus was complete shit and thank God someone had the heart to tell Neal. They were complete shit.

I believe BestBuy exclusive with Itunes handling the digital download part of the deal.

Umm, no they weren't. Because Neal couldn't run it or deal with management issues
some extremely talented musicians had to work for free. If you're starting out and
insist upon staying at the Four Seasons, sure you're gonna have some debt! Oh well,
enjoy your county fairs, next to the horsey stable. All I'm saying is Karma is a bitch.

Karma isn't the only bitch around here. Journey is touring the world and making money hand over fist. Last year's tour saw them play to over a million people. Take your sour grapes and go make fucking wine, malcontent. Your jealousy is very transparent.

Jealous? Of Neal's business sense and the way he treats people not a chance.
His talent? Sure. But that's where it ends.
