Alien VS Monsters - Journey Song

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this. Just got back from taking the kiddies to see Alien VS Monsters. Pretty good movie, all in all. There was a scene where they played Who's Crying Now prominently. That's my report.

from the trailers, it looks like it's got some scenes of san francisco in it. maybe "lights" would have been appropriate. i'm planning to see it in 3D, mainly because of the scenes of The City.

An alien attack, led by the megalomaniacal Galaxhar (Rainn Wilson), forces the monsters into the streets of San Francisco. A showdown between Susan and Galaxhar's prime weapon, a clunky retro robot, is beautifully detailed as it causes the windows on downtown office buildings to rumble and shatter. Greater thrills come when the monsters fight the robot on the Golden Gate Bridge in an old-school, B-movie battle.

I heard this is supposed to be a pretty good movie for old and young alike. :wink:

They played Who's Crying Now during a classic make-out scene...car parked in a secluded spot, looking at the stars, and the only light came from the radio in the dashboard. Who among us hasn't had one of those classic Journey moments..hell, I'm gonna go make one right now. Of course without the alien robot crashing in the field...

Sounded like the original version btw...man it really takes you there.

Of course it was the original.

The movie was good, but a lot of cliche lines. Some of the lines were just too easy and have been done many times. So I didn't react much. However, the animation was pretty stunning. I saw it in 3-D and it's come a long way. The glasses were not even uncool. I don't get to the movies much, so maybe this isn't new, but it is for me. Kids liked it. My wife actually laughed a lot during the movie.

The make out scene was classic. The Journey song gave a true classic feel. REO could have worked, but not many others.

Went to see the movie today and really enjoyed it. It looked like they used the song because of how the old Journey songs are always advertised as being great makeout songs. Classic Journey is alive and well. The possibilities for all the Journey music is endless, the new and the old. It's just that the old songs have such a great reputation and well known by more than the average Journey fan.

I think movie producers will naturally go through Sony for Journey music.

If you don't want to pay for the original, there are cheaper alternatives than the re-records.

Hell! I still enjoy stacking the old Journey albums on the record player. The old console speakers give the music a quality that can't be duplicated.

i haven't gotten around to seeing "the bridge" but i want to. i should see if it's available for DL at itunes. btw, i am highly opposed to the proposed $40 million suicide barrier. that money could be better spent elsewhere, like in mental health care.

I saw the movie on Sunday at the local IMAX in 3D. Seeing it that way was really cool. My daughter loved it (she's 9). I liked it, but there are others that I think were funnier.
